Default Please Introduce Yourself

Hello Everyone,

This forum has been slow recently so I wanted to take time and let everyone new and veteran members get a chance to introduce themselves and get to know each other. You do not need to post anything that you do not feel like posting just a quick bio, nothing much.

Well, my name is Bev. I used to be "scruffysmom" before I went in. I got home from Alderson after 2 years on Sept. 9. Not quite 60 days home yet, but home and loving it. Working on finding a job and getting back to life. I want to help anyone who needs it on this forum.

My wife has yet to get her letter so we don't know where or when she's to report. I'm reporting 3/15/11. After reading horror story after horror story about FMC Carswell both on this site and in the mainstream press, we're happy I won't be going there even though we still have considerable concerns about how the system will handle that I'm disabled. I am praying that my wife gets sent to an FPC -- either Alderson or Bryan. We both turn 60 this year and are peaceful people. (Our pre-trial probation department case officer termed us the most boring people he's had to watch over in years -- maybe ever.) We are definitely quiet homebodies who have spent our lives in activism helping others. As I'm heading in soon, if anyone has any need for updates, messages in to people there now, please write. My friend is new at Alderson. She's Greek and I miss her. I'm an artist and I paint murals. I hope you find this. Stay strong. Older woman younger man

Just registered. My wife has been at Alderson for 16 months. It's been tough to say the least. Not a moment goes by I'm not thinking of her. She's over 1000 miles from where we live so I haven't seen her since the day she left. The good news is she's about 60 days from being released to hwh. I just found this site and have found a lot of useful info already.

Hey everyone,

My mom went to Alderson in June 2012 and has a release date of January 2014. I have learned a lot about Alderson since June and would be happy to help anyone with any questions!

Praying for all of you.

Hey! My name is Melissa and my twin sister SS at Alderson on March 12th. She was only given 8 months but the last 5 weeks have been long! She left behind a 12 year old daughter who misses her greatly so my family and I have made it possible to get her there to see her mother every weekend since she has been there. It is a long drive which I have learned during my trips there that there are many people that much longer than 5 hours to get there so I am trying not to complain

My daughter just released from Alderson on March 20 after 16 months. I understand about those trips. For the first 3 months I went every weekend. It was November, December and January. Then every two weeks for the remainder of the time until the last couple of months. Then we did every three weeks. There will come a time when the time will seem to pass faster. The first few months are the toughest. Will remember you in our prayers. I was blessed with only a 4 hour drive. And it was an easy drive.

Hi, I'm Dee, Have not been on here in a while. This site was a life saver for me.

I was a first time offender when I went to Alderson in 2005. If it had not been for this site before going in, I would have been so traumatized like some of you. No, I would never want to go to prison again, but this site does help you realize how Alderson will be before getting there . God Bless the people who take time to answer your questions you have and give you some insight.

God Bless you and if at any time you need just to talk to someone on here, pls pm me or ask anything, maybe I can help you like others helped me with.
