Default Relocating- please share your experiences

If you relocated due to deportation, how did it go? Where did you relocate to? Did you find a job easily? How much did it cost? Did you have family?

I am currently considering relocating to Dominican republic if immigration decides to take my husband which they probably eventually will, he has a lot of family there but many of them are planning to come here also I have a career here and I am weighing the pros and cons of either completely just picking up and moving or buying a house there having him and my children there and working my ass off until I feel we have enough saved to life comfortably there for a while while I look for a career similar to mine just looking for stories and oh most of all are you happy in you new home I have been to Dominican republic and while it was nice it's soooo much different than what I'm used to and hoped only to visit

I am in the same boat ...theres not a lot of ladies here with loved ones from DR.... Im glad to know Im not the only one ..In my case is a for sure thing that my hubby is getting deported to DR .... and I am relocating over there is just a matter of time ughhh ... Im soo scare of this crazy change especially because I have a 4 yr old son and I want nothing but the best for him... But our life wouldnt be the same with out him... I just hope it all goes well...Great thing about my scenario is that my hubby has a beautiful home down there and pretty much saved for a rainy day like "deportation".. I just dont know how I will feel not having a job Not having all the things im soo used too... I love DR but everytime I went I was on vacation MODE lol.... What part of DR your hubby from??

Aww well your deff not alone I am about 99% sure my husband will be deported he had an aggravated felony so unless he was "forgotten" some how we will be going ya I tried to tell my husband to buy a house during his trial but he was kinda in denial about going to prison he has money there but simple things I am used to will end up costing us a lot my husband is from Santiago/la vega but I would want to move to santiago we have a 2 yr old and I have 2 children of my own he really wants to come back illegally but I feel like it would just b better to move on w out life's until his ban is up and then see if we could possibly move back what part will you be relocating to? I am happy to see that I am not the only obe

I know ugh the not knowing sucks the most for me the trial was worse I was at so much more peace when I knew what was going to happen my husband was looking at like 12 yrs but when we took the plea for 3 it sucked but it was so much easier just knowing what was going to happen my babysitter only speaks Spanish so I'm pretty good there but my son hated Spanish food idk what he's gonna do w himself over there and my daughter loved Spanish food and only speaks in Spanish so I figure she will be ok haha my husband said its easy to get a job there if u speak English but I'm to nervous to speak Spanish I feel like I sound stupid ehhh I guess I'll get over that quick

we definitely have alot in common lol...on the brighter side he got lucky they offered something to him .... what you do as a career?? you think you can work in the same field over there?? well we have a long journey ahead of us ..I guess they will be enough time to make decisions on what to do ... I just pray on my end and in your end it be the correct one ... I have a 2 friends that are puerto rican and live in DR due to deportation of there love ones and they absolutely love it.. they said it was a rough transition at first due to the electricity leaving and the heat and all the extra annoying things lol but overall there happy...

If I had to do it all over again I would have planned a whole lot less and just let him figure most things out. Nothing I planned for worked out anyway and I just about killed myself doing all the work.

I'm 6 years being outside the US now. It's been almost 10 years since the time of arrest. Honestly, this road has been hellish. Mostly because i just tried too hard. I'm tired and wish I would have tried to enjoy life more while my husband was locked up and let him plan things since he was the one that got us into the mess. That has been my experience. My advice is to relax. Don't try to plan too much. While they are locked up everything is just on hold and you have to be patient.
