Unhappy Prisoner Dies because he didn't get medical attention

http://ionenewsone.files.wordpress.c...pg?w=300&h=199Fabian Avery III, 17, died in an isolation cell in a Pelham, Georgia jail after officials ignored his illness because they thought he was lying about his condition, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

This is real sad that the prisoners die in jail because they aren't getting the proper medical attention. This is starting to be the case in many prisons. I remember reading a forum not to long ago on PTO about there was a petition for this very thing so that our LO can get the medical attention they need.

I have to say that this is just one of many examples about the callous treatment of child offenders in the USA, past and present. The officials should have investigated Fabian's condition and I hope that significant compensation will be paid to Fabian's mother Sandrini as a result!

I totally agree with you on this. It is really sad that they aren't looking into getting better with the system of making sure that they are properly looked at if they have complained of any illness. They brush it off as if it is not important at all then things like this happens.

That whole "HE'S FAKING IT" bs has killed many. CO's don't believe in mental illness and pretend they have some special sixth sense about physical illness.

And sometimes even the medical staff subscribe to that "FAKIN IT" bull. I don't know how some of these people can live with themselves.

Very sad case.

That is so very wrong! I hope the mother sues the pants off of them. It is the only way to wake them up. Sadly, this is not an isolated case. Happens way too often in the prisons and jails all over.

When did we become a society that turns a blind eye to the suffering and death of others?
My condolences to his loved ones,I pray he is in a better place.

Unbelievable!!! You'd have to be Uncaring or an idiot not to realize this boy was sick!!! Could they not see him deteriorating before their eyes. I'll say this mother and family needs to sue this prison for a pretty penny and then some!!!!

How VERY SAD!! Why would a 17 yr old defecate on himself purposely? Geez... They were just slack asses that just didn't care, it really all comes down to that. I hope they pay, that is MURDER if you ask me. What a senseless death. The whole thing infuriates me!!! Praying for his family right now in there time of grief. May justice be served.

Very sad. Sad too that many inmates fake illnesses to get medication they don't need. My sons prison is circa 1940, awful, worse than a kennel.

In general co and medical professionals dont believe that inmates are ill. When I worked on the inside as a nurse I would hear it all the time "He is just an inmate" and this is what medical professionals said in regard to inmate health concerns. Treatment is all to often based on whether the particular staff person feels the inmate deserves medical cate or not if we treated animals tgis way we would be serving jail time

How very sad - my heart goes out to his family. I'm a nurse in an ER and ever since my brother has been incarcerated I've always wondered about being a nurse on the inside - id probably get fired though because I'd actually care everyone should be seen no matter what. Stories like this make me sick. He's in a better place now +

I dont even have words for these kinds of things.. It makes me sick to my stomach,a knot in my throat and I want to cry.. I dont know how PEOPLE can be this way to PEOPLE.. Where my man was they did stuff like this to the inmates.. The medical staff would tell the inmates to go back to their dorms that there wasnt anything wrong with them.. He use to tell me stories about inmates getting turned away at the med office.. Sad... Scary... </3
