I use both but I have concerns regarding FB's privacy problems. I can assure you that PTO has (and enforces) a privacy policy that protects all members.
I use FB to keep up with a few friends and family and PTO for prison news, support and activism. It works well for me! Too much hate exists in the world--I protect myself and my friends.
PTO is also great because people here understand prison life and all that goes with that. It is far more supportive then any other place I've found. PTO is also moderated so if someone does start trouble, it can be dealt with professionally.

End of commercial! lulz

Its been a very good healing thing for me to be here. Im so used to being judged and looked down on that I normally dont talk to anyone anymore. In fact, the day I discovered PTO I hadnt left my apt or answered my phone in 3 weeks.(the beauty of grocery delivery) Ive been feeling alot better and like Im a ok person and not the only one in the world like this since I came here and thats huge for me.When I want to be stressed...facebook.lol

I only discuss on facebook some things. If people don't know my man personally then they won't know that he is locked up. I don't feel I owe anyone that part of my life. I like PTO because people understand what I am going through because they are in the same boat. Not only that PTO keeps me informed about what rumors are true and not true. I told my Fiance' yeah you don't really like PTO but he loves when I find out things.

I'm so over Facebook. It got to the point I couldn't post a picture of myself with friends because I would begin to get harassed by my male friends that wanted more. I deactivated my account. I'm pretty much in hiding from other males now. PTO is my new Facebook ! Its safe to come here and share our experiences. I could careless about my 300 fake friends on fb.

I HATE FB! I was just on there ranting on how I get all these stupid game invites. PPL get all defensive about it. So I said I am deleting the stu**d pp on my friends list that dont get it! At this point I would close the stupid thing but I might need to read something in the next decade.

I do not have any issues with FB, because I don't allow them...lol I do not share my personal life on FB, nor do I share it here...so, I use them both for entertainment and finding information, and or people.

Peace~

60 second man!!! Thats brilliant!!!. I guess Ive always just been open and havent hid anything about my life. I shouldnt have to. Im proud of who Im with but I dont like getting messages or things aimed at me about how all murderers deserve to die.its childish and i delete those people. After all my facebook friends are supposed to be my actual friends right? so why would I have to keep secrets? you would think anyway. lol

nobody gets anything on FB they are very shallow and when you try to discuss serious issues like Death Row everybody is like what is your problem so i try to keep penpal discussion to prison talk and you all understand which is so cool. FB if for superficial clap trap like i love this washing powder or whatever and Prison Talk is for deep issues that i really care about.

I go to facebook to see what my family is doing because otherwise I dont talk to them. Someone posted a photo of the electric chair today saying how sex offenders should be killed ect. I commented with the longest fb comment ever, full of statistics and the works. I didnt delete my account immediately after bc I wanted to make sure she seen it. Shes been trying to call me all day. LOL So Im deleting my facebook here in the next 5 minutes.

When I should support one individual(Even I am very wary),I use FB.And I can connect other person's supporter. So I talk about general things here, openly, and for individual,I use FB and no one can see without invitation.(even questionable)so,I hope someday friends can move personal and secured site only for each others support.
And,I don't use my own language,Japanese in FB.it makes privacy protection much risky because of Japanese network manner.

Yes.when I became friend someone in DR,(not a murderer,by the way)I have my own problem.I don't post a link to my FB page here, because I need a door and hoping to ring a bell when someone visit me.Two place have different role.

LOL! That's funny! Sometimes when I can't sleep, I'm on here checking out what others are going through and learning at the same time.

It's funny you said that PTO is your new FB because that is how I describe PTO to others, I say it's the FB for families/friends of inmates and it's has a wealth of knowledge rather than a wealth of GOSSIP that I could care less about. I deleted my FB over a year ago and have NOT missed it. If I want to surf around or connect, I come here becasue it's here where I get to surround myself around others in similar situations, to put it simple, just loving and missing their loved ones....
