Default Centralia

My husband is at Centralia. Anyone know the rules and reglations there?
Is it 30 days before a call and then only 1 and then 60 days before a visit?jI've lost track of how many letters I've sent and haven't heard anything?

My son is there. I didn't have a phone set up for collect calls when he was first transferred there, but I don't think he has to wait 60 days for visits. Call up his counselor and ask! The visiting there is quite laid back compared to Lawrence or Stateville. a few minutes after you enter the building you are visiting him! the visits are much longer. Take a look under facilities under the IDOC web site. you can visit up til 8pm weeknights. sat and sun visits are shorter. There is a good hotel at the corner of 161 and 51 I think it is. The prison is east on 161 from town. When you see the sign "do not pick up hitchhikers" brake! lol shattuck road at the right, then down about a mile and it is on the right. The same rules apply that if you live over 300 miles you can request an extended visit. the first time I visited I requested it and got it on the spot. the second time I wrote and called three weeks in advance and still didn't get it. C loves that he doesn't have to be escorted by a CO. There is a lot of movement, lot of yard time. It was a bit much for him after being in a cell 23 hours a day at Lawrence. You can hold hands during visits, and you can kiss more than a peck. shame on him not writing you! you can't send envelopes there, but you can send books.

Thank you so much for that information. I called and spoke to someone the day I saw(inmate search) that he was at Centralia. The man was real nice. He asked my name and his. He said that he had just spoke to him and that he had just got there that morning. I asked him if he was doing ok and he assured me that he was ok. I had been checking it every day. The officer told me that as soon as he filled out the call list and mailing list and visitors list it would be a few weeks before he could call or anything. Plus, he would have to wait until he got his money transfered from Stateville. I'm about 150 miles one way so I wouldn't qualify for the extended visit. That is good to here about being able to touch. Can I just call there and ask to speak to his councilor without knowing their name?

You mean without knowing the name of the counselor? Yes, you ask for the inmate's counselor and give the ID and they pass you along to that person. It seems the counselors are generally the person who have the most information as far as programs, visiting, rules there, etc.

Default Can the councelor help with medical issues?

I'm calling Centralia in the morning to talk to his councelor. Thank you for that information. I did get to talk to him on Saturday. He called his parents house and they called me and said he would call back so I could talk to him. He can't get through on our phone. I set it up over a week ago. Have to call them, too. He was a mess. He was on meds from his
Dr. at home and now they said it would be 4 months before he would be able to get them in there. He isn't supposed to quit taking them either. His temper is real bad with out them. They had better get it to him or they are going to have an awful time with him and he will be in trouble! He has been taking this medication for almost 2 years now. Is there anything his Dr. outside can do?

The doctor could write a letter to Centralia about how long he's been on the med, why it was prescribed and how important it is, that it affects his behavior. It's worth trying!

Thanks CET. I just realized what time it was. I better get to bed so I can call all of the places and get this phone problem taken care of. Plus, send a money order so he can have it before Wednesday for commissary. He had 100.00 with him when he went to Stateville for reception and it hasn't gotten to him yet at Centralia. Talk later. Connie
