I would, well I actually did. It was a boy and I named it Ghost. It was a white red nose pit and the sweetest thing, well to us. Anyone else no. I actually had to get rid of it because I was moving into a small 1 bedroom apartment and it did not like my boyfriend at the time who is now my husband. This dog was very protective over me! They are very sweet but they can be scary if you don't own one.

I've have 2....one male, one female

Male...is a very protective of me and my children. He doesn't like Men at all and if he gets too close to ANY other dog there will be a fight..i haven't ever incourged him to fight but it is his nature and he reacts to other dogs in that way, mostly other male dogs.. i have seen him use a lot of patinces when a puppy wondered up on him and believe it or not he doesn't mind the cats...i've watch the cats and him eat out of the same bowl..

Female---house dog, not a mean bone in her body..i'm not sure if she even knows that shes a dog...LOL..

I wouldn't take the world for either one of them. They are a very important part of our family...

I had my boyfriend's for 2 years. He was a giant...90 pounds with a huge head. He was the SWEETEST thing you have ever met.

He was my shadow...slept with me, laid on the mat in the bathroom when I was taking a shower, sit at my feet when I was cooking or doing dishes.

I had no problems with visitors, he was friendly to whoever I was friendly to. He didn't like when strangers got to close to me on the street though and he HATED other dogs and I mean HATED. He would go crazy just on the sight of another dog.

The only problem is when I started working fulltime day hours. I was a bartender when I got him and was able to spend ALOT of time with him. When I was gone, he started to TEAR UP my house, plus spiteful "accidents." I just crated him until he learned his lesson.

My landlord made me get rid of him, said she didn't want THOSE types of dogs in her building. We gave him to a friend, so he's okay....I miss him sooooo much though. He was my little man!

I think they make great pets, but as with any animal you need to be watchful of their actions until you get to know them.

Any dog can be vicious and any dog can be a sweetheart. Ive seen vicious golden retreivers. It all depends on the personality of the dog and how he is raised. They have a bad rep but are sweet, sweet animals. Shelters are filled with them because people either get them to fight and the poor animals wont do it, or because they lost a fight. If you are thinking about getting a pit bull please consider adopting one from a shelter. Most places do behavior checks before putting them up for adoption.

I have 2 pit puppies..one male- Diago and one female- Sadie. They keep me in stitches. Sadie is 4 months old and is very loving and sweet with the biggest saddist eyes. Diago is 3 months old and is sooooooooo cute you just want to pick him up and squeeze him to pieces (which I do). I wish my scanner weren't broken and I'd post pics of them. They're like my babies... as my son is 25.*L*

ABSOLUTELY. The think they are the best dogs in the world. My brother has three and my parents have one. They are the best dogs in the entire world and I trust them with my daughter being around them without any question. My brothers baby, Sampson, he is beautiful chocolate red nose and he is huge, he is just like a big baby. When you sit on the couch he insists on sitting on your lap. He is so smart he walks up to me, grabs me by the arm and takes me to his leash drawer and says walk me. He also grabbed me by the arm and took me to the hose in the back yard and told me give me a bath. He is probably the smartest dog I have ever known. He has two others and they are great dogs as well but not quite as smart as Sampson.

I said No but I know someone who has two great ones.....I am just nervous of them and rotties and alot of other dogs. I love dogs but I like them a little less powerful haha!

I know it's all in how you raise em and they get a bad rap! It's not often the dogs it's the people!

Default Dog Lover

As a matter of fact I have a pit named "Layla" and 2 rocks named "Pac" and "Biggie". Layla is a little over a year and she lived in the house until recently, when I got the 2 puppy rocks. They are all spoiled like children.

My Drake was 1/2 pit. I wouldn't hesitate to own another. He was very protective of women and children and unless he was protecting us, he was the most gentle, loving dog I've ever had.

Pit bulls that are nurtured in loving, non aggressive homes make wonderful pets.

I've owned 2 pits before. The first one would let anyone in the house if you scratched his ears and once you got in I had a poodle that would tear your butt up. The second one was great until one day out of the blue he tried to bite my son who was 7 at the time. The vet put him down, but did a necropsy on him. Someone was giving him gunpowder in bologna. Now I have the dobe and the rott and their just so vicious (ask mrs.d).

I have a pit. He is the sweetest dog, and he swears he is actually a baby. He's huge but always feels the need to come and lay on your lap to go to sleep. His name is Jazz, but I call him the pretty-pitty.
When someone comes into the house that he does not know he will follow me around. He's very protective of me and those that he is 'close' to. If someone so much as yells at me... He growls at them.

Thumbs up pit bulls...or any other dog with a bad rep

I've been training dogs for over 30 years...pit bulls are awesome dogs with the right owner...Early socialization with people and other dogs are the most important thing you can do for your pit bull... you can quote me on this ...theres no such thing as a stupid or bad dog, but there are plent of stupid people that own dogs...

I had 2 pits before I moved to where I am now. Most people will not own pits because they think they are mean dogs. It is all in the way that you raise them. I had both of mine from puppies and they were always around my son. They never lost their temper or attacked anyone. I miss my babies.

I have a five and a half month old female, dark brindle with a white chest. She does not know she is a dog let alone a Pit. I have a grooming shop and she goes to work with me every day. She greets all the people and dogs as well. Oh and if people doesn't talk to her she talks to them, she doesn't bark she sort of worbels at them. Pits are one of the smartest breeds around, eager to please and willing to learn. Which is more than I can say for others and I have trained many classes over the years.Personally I love the breed.

Like Cristal I also work with dogs as a groomer seen many wondeful pits and not so good pits. The owners make or beak any dog. Would I own one hummm,,,,, maybe but I am leary only because if ANY dog was to bite someone and I was to be sued a Pit because of their reputation would cost big bucks. A dog that bites and if one was to be sued the money settlement is based on the breed not the actual history of that dog!

I have 2 pit male pit puppies (4 months). They have distinct personalities. My black and white pup (Kato) is very friendly. He is the biggest of the 2 dogs but very gentle and loves people and other dogs.

My blue nose (Jody) isn't very friendly. He likes to sit under me most of the time. He is not people aggressive but is not particularly thrilled at other people trying to play with him. He is dog aggressive. He doesn't play nicely with any dogs except his brother and my 9 year old rottie.

my best friend has two of them and they are so opposite, both VERY protective though. the male is more protective, but in all honesty he does a lot of barking and thats about it. they only way he will fight another dog or go after someone is if he feels threatened. the female is very friendly to people, but she likes to start with other dogs! like others have said it is there nature to be protective of there owners and family. but i wouldnt ever own one. i dont feel very comfortable around them. i like little fuffy dogs that i can dress up and take around with me

I have had a total of 8 pitbulls (blue eyed) and i never had any of them attack someone ... Except once and that was when a guy was trying to hit me and my dog didnt hurt him but he let him know not to mess with me.. MY neices and nephews all pllayed with the the mom the dad and the puppies without any incident.. Now they are happy at a pitbulll ranch...

If their owners are mean to them then they reciporicate that..
