this morning i went to the meeting of the "coalition for women prisoners"

the coalition for women prisoners is a project of the correctional association


i met alot of intersting ppl and got even more infos on topics like substance abuse, child care while incarcerated, housing after release from prsion, HIV/AIDS fight and legal issues!

i decided not to post every single detail i learned today YET since i will got to the following meetings and get more informations together and once i have all infos on a topic completed i will post it!!! in case you have questions or need to find a person that can help feel free to PM me and i will help where i can and try to get you contact information to the right person or place (made alot of new friends )

there are events that two different organizations offer:

saturday sept 18th 2004 ->
Harlem Community Wellness Fair from the Fortune Society

saturday dec 18th 2004 ->
Open House for formerly incarcerated women from the Coalition for Women Prisoners


after the meeting we had a workshop on custody rights and responsibilities of incarcerated parents (father or mother) and overcoming barriers to family reunification ... it was very interesting and as well i got plenty infos on this issue!!!


ps: dont be fooled just cuz it says for WOMEN it doesnt mean MEN aint welcome since most of us have a man behind bars !!!!
