Post Violation of Probation in CT

Once you hear that you will be charged with a violation of probation, there is a lot you can do.

1. Establish a rapport with your P.O.
2. Ask why you are getting violated
3. find out the bail amount

Did you know that most of the time, you can find out the bail amount before turning yourself into probation?

Yes, you sure can.

This is so useful because if you already know you will be charged with a VOP (Violation of probation in CT) at least you can prepare for it. Collect funds, set the time and day when you can turn yourself in, ask for time off from work, make sure your children are being cared for, etc.

Hope this information helps.

1. If your PO is violating you, its just a tad too late for "rapport." One should have good communication with the PO before violating

2. Every violation is signed off on by the parolee / probationer at the time of each incident. If a VOP is filed, you already know why.

3. Many PO's place a Hold on the offender, which means: No Bail.

At least that's how things work in Kentucky

I agree with most of your points. However here in CT things are a bit different.

About the rapport, it's never too late to start getting things right especially if they have tried helping you more than once. Based on what I experienced, some P.O. may even call you with reminders and really go the extra mile to help.

Rarely there would be a hold with no bail in CT. Domestic cases are treated a little different. However, most VOPs have a set bond, therefore, defendants can save funds, find cosigners and be able to present themselves to court with their bondsman so they can get right out and go on with their lives.

How do you just go on with you life while out on bond ..repeated court dates and prison time hanging over you head. I'd have to disagree and say violation of probation is a big deal and a pita!
Even in the state of Ct

Hey what I meant is the fact that you can get out of jail if you get charged with a violation of probation. For what is worth, at least you are free while continuing on probation.

I know it is hard to keep up with all the requirements while being on probation but for what I know, plenty of folks rather deal with this than being locked up. Just sayin'

Sorry, you have someone in jail because of a VOP and for 2 years?! no other charges? wow.
