Default Visitation - drug scanning light test?

Can someone please help... I feel very confident someone here knows:

I've been told that there is a "light" test administered prior to entry for a visitation. I hear that this is a residue test, for drugs, gunpowder, etc. They stamp your hand and run a special light over it.

Does anyone know if this is a usage test? My best friend is due to visit her brother at the Federal Detention Center in Honolulu in TWO DAYS! (shes so excited), and she is a marijuana smoker. This causes problems for her obviously. We'd like to make sure that she doesn't get rejected as a visitor... though we realize it'd be her fault.

I am very, very new to this posting messages thing, so please forgive me for breaking any rules, etc.

I'd love to get replies!

Thank you, visitRocky

I know here in Florida they use those tests every once in a blue moon...tho I don't know about Honolulu - the only think I would advise is for her to not smoke before her visit and make sure she washed her hands real good - ammonia works

I know my Aunt was tested earlier this year in NY. I'm not sure if it's a "usage" test but if there is any residual "leaves" (Or in some cases other elements) she probably will test positive and be denied a visit.

Howzit. At FDC Honolulu, they do random drug screenings. I think if they are testing they do every 4rth or 5th visitor. The light test is something else. The light will sensor a stamp on your hand for entry. Kind of like the light stamps to get into a nightclub. Have a nice visit.

I visit my fiancee at a level one facility in mid-michigan and have had the stamp on my hand and passed it through the light. I am a smoker and have never had a problem. So put your fears aside. Take Care.

Sorry I came to this thread late. I don't know of any "test" that is done in the state prisons, other than the usual pat search. I'm also a volunteer at one of the medium prisons here on the island of O'ahu and we are subject to random searches whenever we go in. Sorry I have no info on the fed prison here in Hawaii.
