I'm still here also, though I don't come around much anymore. Still waiting for Randi Lynn, through the moves and travails since I last wrote. Hanging in is what we do best...

Eric, if the Meth measles syndrome is true, and she is away from you and your influence, I'm so sorry to hear of that..If it's merely attitudinal however, maybe not so extreme?

Glad you're still in it. She'll be out in less than 2 years, won't she?

We're hoping the Board will interview Tammy this year even though she's not technically eligible. They've released a few older, long term prisoners with good records to make room for younger, more violent ones.

Yes, this is a relapse issue.

Yes, it is bad.

I'd like to leave it at that as the situation is ongoing and not at all pleasant for those in her life. Some days are better than others. But I have boundaries about when I'll allow myself to be around her. If she wants to really get sober and get real help, I will be there to act as a support. If she is in active addiction (which is true recently,) I will be staying at a safe distance.

For her sake, I hope it doesn't result in a return trip to prison.

My most fervent wishes for your sanity and wellness through this. I've been waiting for Randi for nearly 5 years, and she was originally sentenced to 120 months for Meth. Though she says she wants nothing more than a new life, a new start with a new supportive man, it is always in the back of my mind that getting out, and into my care, cannot be a guarantee of good results. Though she will be living with me right away, after HWH clearance, and the closeness inherent in that arrangement, it will remain a presence in my mind. In theory, she will be released at the end of June this year, (though I'll believe it only when I get that call), and our outside journey will begin. I'm just so sorry that you have this to deal with after all the time you supported her on the inside. Your recitation of your experience in picking her can still bring tears to me, projecting myself in your shoes...God speed, Eric, and as you've advised over the years, lean on us, share with us, or simply vent to us, as we've done with you....

Well, that would be a remarkable thing, right? OMG, after all the years...You deserve a break somewhere along this path..Randi Lynn is supposed to be released somewhere near the end of June this year, but until I get a call saying to come pick me up, I'll reserve the largest part of my heart. The years have taught me how fickle the system can be, and we just never know for sure how things will go. On the absolute plus side, it's a heck of a lot closer that when you and I started chatting!! Thanks much, my friend..

I'm so sorry she wasn't able to kick. That's awful for both of you. Tammy says where she is is drowning in drugs. Women go in clean and get hooked. Hooked ones leave worse than when they went in. It's destroying lives inside and out and the money's corrupting a lot of people. She's sure the drug business is responsible for her getting tickets and losing her library and classroom aide jobs.

I know what you mean about the system's fickleness. Things can be problem free for years, then the roof caves in. Keep pulling those pages off the calendar! Sure wish I could.

Indeed I shall, and with some positive fickleness, perhaps Tammy catches a break if the board interviews her after all. There is much talk about sentence reform and a new attitude towards incarceration, so we can only hope. Maybe it permeates the atmosphere somehow, and she is reviewed. We can all hope, right?

Addiction is a disease.

Sobriety is a choice.

If she doesn't want to choose the benefits of Sobriety, then she'll likely remain sick for some time to come. It's hard to watch.

(So I don't. I've paid my dues. When she wants real help, she knows where to find me.)

If you've posted this before, I missed it. I'm sorry to hear she lost her positions. I remember you saying that they were important to her and helped her with the time.
