Default Native Americans and Michigan prisons

I am trying to find out which Michigan prisons offer some traditional ceremonies, etc. Do they all offer something or just some of them? I know someone in Riverside was trying to get a sweat lodge started up there, but not sure if the other prisons offer anything. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I am just getting into the white bison program, they work nation wide to bring tradition into the prison system...you may want to contact them...another thought would be to contact tribal offices in Michigan and see if they have liasons going into the prisons

None of the facilities my husband was at offered any traditional ceremonies... They had a native group at a few but no ceremonies etc... "Not allowed" is what they say.

They had them at Baraga and Jerry was attending last year for a short while. I have also heard that they are 'Not Allowed' at some facilities. I cant figure out why they would be at some and not at others... especailly if they allow them at Baraga? NOTHING is allowed there! lol

I know that at the Valley there was a guy there that was allowed sweet grass but I don't know of any traditional ceremonies. Maybe contact the chaplain at the facilities to see if that they can help you get the info.
