Thank you JavisLady and OC for the information. It's definitely appreciated. Right now, I just waiting to hear from my boo so I know where he is being housed, hopefully its soon. JavisLady,he used to be in the SHU in Corcoran where I used to go visit him.

Hi Remy,

Your man may be in AdSeg till they find him a permanent spot. My husband was in AdSeg for close to a year when he first got up there, but he wasn't going SHU to SHU he went GP to SHU so IDK if that is different or not.

Best wishes and let us all know if we can be of any further help!

Does anyone know if visiting will be affected by the hunger strike? Or has it in the past?
My husband is in the level 1. Thanks.

For you ladies that visit Pelican Bay SHU how far in advance to you call to schedule your appointments?

I promised my man I would be coming to see him after the strikes and I just happen to have a family camping trip planned labor day weekend near Crescent City. I'd like to see him while I'm up there. Thanks

For SHU visits you can only call to schedule your appts beginning the Monday of the week you will be visiting that weekend. For example, Labor Day weekend you would be able to call beginning Monday Aug 26th. 707-465-1000 x5425. They say the lines open at 8am but I usually get thru around 8.20am.
Enjoy your visits! :-)

Angry Pelican Bay IGI issue

Hello my name is Melissa, I had an incident at pelican bay IGI in June of this year. I got there to visit my husband and.IGI approached me with bogus allegations that they had information that I was trying to introduce narcotics into the facility. I was taken to a room where they did a humiliating strip search and also searched my car, they harassed me for 3 hours, of course nothing was found. They are lying and saying, the dog hit positive in the vehicle. My husband hasbeen thrown into the hole, pending investigation. I recently heard from my husband saying that now they are saying that the supposedly found a glove with the fingers missing, I'm 100% sure that's not true. I wanted to know if something similar has happened to anyone else. I can't visit my husband as they took my visits. I am looking at filing a law suit, but I am looking if maybe more purple went through this, so we can make it a class action suit. Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have been approved for visiting and have visited many times. I filled out a new visiting form updating my new address. Do I have to wait for a new approval or can I still visit being that I have been previously approved.

Try calling visiting to check and see if you have been reapproved. I hope that helps.

Flying all the way is expensive and the plane does not always land due to bad weather when you go directly into crescent city. You can fly to Eugene, OR but the drive down is 2 hours, winding, and some would say dangerous. You can fly into Arcata/Eureka, CA. 13 hours sounds like you're coming from San Diego area. You can fly into San Francisco or Sacramento and drive the rest of the way. Or you can drive the whole way, which is what most do. Add 2 hours for gas stops. Your best bet is to find friends who know the drive that can help you with the drive. His family helped me the first time. The last 5 hours can be rough if you've never done country driving or mountain roads. Also, December through April 1 is the roughest weather, but it hasn't been that bad this year.

Planning a trip up to the bay soon. Wanna take my daughter to see her dad. Wondering if there's any hotels outside of crescent city that are good? Unfortunately my kids really picky about where she sleeps and alot of the hotels in crescent city look run down. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

They look run down but really aren't bad inside, the Econolodge is good, but if you want something different there's the ones right on the beach,i think its called oceanfront lodge.

Oceanfront Lodge is really nice. They have an indoor pool and sauna. I used to take my son there and he'd swim all day. Plus the views are really nice...we saw whales the last time we were up there. They are a bit more pricey but its worth it .

Hi I was wondering if someone can let me know what the drive is like? I'm going this weekend but will be driving overnight and it will just be me and my daughter. I'm wondering how dangerous the drive near redwood hwy really is.
Thanks
