Default CorrLinks Video Chat: How much does it cost? How long are the video chats?

My new pen-pal has mentioned that there is the option for video visits at her facility. I'm not quite ready for that yet, and I expressed that to her. However, out of curiosity, I would like to know what the cost would be on her end and how long the visit would be. Does anyone know?

Hi there here is the information about corrlinks video visits
http://www.corrlinkssupport.com/corr...-with-inmates/
The visits seem to be 25 minutes long and it would free to you but she would need to pay. I cant find any cost details but your friend should know.

What facility is yours located at?

Where mine is at, it is $10 per video session and it last 25 minutes.

Make sure to log in to Corrlinks and do a test run before each video to make sure the internet connection isn't too weak, this takes a couple of minutes so sign on at least 10-15 minutes ahead of time.

How many video chats are the inmates allowed to have per week or per month? Does it count as a visit?

Inmates are allowed to do as many videos as they would like, But they're only allowed to have 3 scheduled at a time, But you could do them back to back or spread them out throughout the week (or even month if you don't want to do them often), also they have to be scheduled at least 4 days in advance.

Videos don't count as visits which is a bonus, they just have to pay for them, But it's a small price to pay to see your loved one every week. I see mine twice a week, talk on the phone once a week, visit one weekend out of the month and email everyday and it makes it feel like she's here even though she's not.

Me and my husband are interested in doing video calls but where he is now which is a FBOP Manchester Kentucky does not do the video calls however he's looking to transfer upon my wish because getting back and forth to Kentucky is a little bit much and we've been in his for four years now and it's getting harder and we have two left so we're trying to make it and we're trying to do whatever we can do to strengthen our relationship however I'm having a hard time finding the list of federal prisons that allow video calls we're looking for some more options and more resources for communication

Default Which BOP Facilities have Video Visitation?

Looking at this thread, it sounds like some BOP facilities have had video visitation for almost three years, while many don't yet have it. Can people please reply with name(s) of BOP facilities where you have used video visitation, so we can put together a list. Thanks.

I messaged CorrLinks and enquired about Hazelton. Here is the reply. The Federal Bureau of Prisons is evaluating a new video conferencing service and will be deploying the service at its discretion. CorrLinks will provide you the necessary installation information once you have been invited by a FBOP inmate for a video conference.

Prior to accepting the invitation CorrLinks will require you to download and configure the CorrLinks Video software. The website will also provide instructional links on how to perform these tasks.

Thank you,
CorrLinks

Default BOP Facilities which have Video Visitation

FBOP facilities which have TVS (Trulincs Video Service, that is what they call it) available for the female population are listed below. Most of them have had it for over 3 years! At all sites, it costs $6 for 25 min video call and does not use visitation points.

FBOP is discriminating against families whose father, son or brother are in their facility --- especially when they are placed hundreds of miles away.

Facilities with TVS

Alderson
Aliceville
Bryan
Carswell
Coleman
Danbury
Dublin
Greenville
Hazelton
Lexington
Marianna
Phoenix
Pekin
Tallahassee
Victorville
Waseca

While I support having access to this feature I hope it will be in addition to physical visits and not eventually replace them as we have seen happen in other facilities (Local and State levels).

Good point and totally agree with your concern. By NOT using "visitation points" for video visit sessions, FBOP is not reducing number of physical visits allowed for people using video visits. So I remain hopeful that this is an indication that FBOP sees video visits as helpful towards successful rentry.
