Default Can guards use ion scanners on inmates? How can inmate prove scanner wrong?

Long story short....are the guards aloud to use ion scanners on the inmates...and if an inmate comes up positive for pcp..how can a inmate prove its wrong..my husband been in the hole today is day 6 and has never done pcp..him and 2 other inmates came up positive on the ion scanner..also can that thing tell you what kind of drug in found on you..ty

How awful! And I really don't know the answers to your questions I'm glad KY don't use those things (ion scanners), I've read other member's nightmares about the scanners here on PTO.

What is DOC saying about his release? I suppose that's on hold until they complete their investigation....

This will supplement the information you requested via PM:

The ion scanners are generally operated by officers. All officers are trained. The new scanners identify the substance.

The inmates may be given a urinalysis test. If it comes back clean, then the only question is whether or not he handled the drug without ingesting it. He may not use PCP but he might be part of the chain in getting it to those who do.
Justice and compassion don't have to be exclusive.
