Thumbs down 'Affluenza' strikes again

A Superior Court judge who sentenced a wealthy du Pont heir to probation for raping his 3-year-old daughter noted in her order that he "will not fare well" in prison and needed treatment instead of time behind bars, court records show.

Is there any doubt now how our "justice" system works?

Seems to be two tiers of justice in America -- slaps on the wrist for the rich and powerful "who will not fare well in prison", and long prison sentences for the rest of us peons who can presumably handle it.

They may as well just bring back the debtors' prisons. That seems to be where we are headed in this country...

This is absolutely disgusting.

jsanner, size really doesn't mean much at all, especially in prison. Some of the most gangster convicts I know aren't even 6 foot. I know a guy who stabbed another guy in the neck over a game of dominoes. He's 5'7 and notorious.

I agree with the treatment sentencing, but the rest is so sad. Everyone is bending over backward to protect a man who admitted harming a child to his wife and the courts. Where is this protection for people where the cases are truly unsubstantiated?

Fair sentencing, treatment mandates. Yes. A pass for privilege, no.

This is the same system that sentences 14 and 15 year olds to lwop and 17 and 18 year olds to prison and sex offender registry for having sex with their 14 and 15 year old girlfriends and he is given a pass after raping a 3 year old? There truly is no justice or equity ..its pathetic... Then you read about some guy getting life for looking at child porn online ..its so scary ..if you are rich you can get away with murder ..if your poor or even middle class you can end up jailed for life for a crime you didn't commit..what happened to " justice for all"
