Post I Logged Into This Website Poem (Dedicated to All the PTO Members)

I Logged Into This Website

I was searching on the internet and came upon this site,

It really didnít hit me till I went to bed that night.

I hadnít been in touch much like I knew I should have been,

Until I read some stories that really sucked me in.

It really got me interested on everything I read

I knew I couldnít sleep now so I got up out of bed.

I logged into this website and started writing down,

How much I missed my son to the new friends I had found.

They understand my feelings, they know just what to do.

They said when you are stressing weíre always here for you.

No matter what will happen we cannot change the past

Heís going to need you more now to help his time go fast.

You see I have a son that got caught up in some mess,

He was merely trying to survive doing what he thought was best.

It really made me angry though when I received that call,

Stating heís in trouble and was busted by the law.

He said, ďI hope youíll forgive me, but I need to tell you this:

I donít want you to worry mom just know Iíll do my best.

I love you very much no matter what you feel,

Iíll have time to write you as I wait for my appeal.

Just please understand me and donít forget I'm here.Ē

He said he got his sentenced for nearly 5 more years.

ďI made some poor decisions mom and now Iíll have to pay,

Just keep those letters coming it helps me through the day.

This time I promise mama Iíll listen to your advice,

Cause know matter what I do now I have to pay the price.

Locked up in this jail cell with nothing here to do,

Except to wait for mail call and hopes to hear from you!Ē

So now I started writing and telling him the news,

About this wonderful website if only he could view.

It helps me with my feelings and coping when I am down.

I told him donít worry our new family has been found!!

So days are getting better on helping with the stress,

I know where to go now when I need to feel my best.

I posted him a penpal ad in hopes to gain a few,

That will help me keep in contact and keep his sanity too.

So now that time is all we have and visits there are few,

I want to share my feelings for everyone to view.

If ever you are sad and down and not sure what to do,

Just log onto this website I know itíll help you too!!

Default Makes me think of my brother when he was younger

When I was a teenager, I watched my older brother slowly working on and finally winding up behind bars. Although, he didn't spend as much time in there, I remember the missed times that we might have had. He is twice the age now and is finally getting his feet on solid ground. Watching my mother through the years pull her hair out in worry for my brother. I think the only time she felt he was really safe was the time he spent behind bars. Drugs and alcohol took him almost to his death at times. Behind bars a hard lesson to learn but may have saved him some where down the road.

Your poem it did bring tears not only for you and your son, but the many of families on both sides of the crimes who are hurt. I never gave up on my brother and vowed I never would. He had it tough as a small kid because of my biological dad and his drinking. Although my dad finally stopped drinking years down the road the pain he inflicted still remains. It seems as though we are doing the time. Your poem hits home. So, many people would be outside those walls had they seen a better environment and there are those that just lose their way for whatever reason. I have two kids that are not even adults yet that had to spend some time in a controlled environment due to some emotional problems. It was the hardest thing for me to have to visit them knowing that I couldn't take them with me for a while. Some how we all managed to get through those times but I think we are still doing time.

Thanks for your poem and for allowing me to reply. God bless you and your son.
