you are never alone. I have a husband there too. He has not totally completed processing. I am hoping to rideshare with someone from the FTW area. Transportation and family support is out. We have none. We hae found that everybody loves you until you miss up...

You are right every king needs a queen to protect them...

I know..this thread seems deserted. There HAS to be others here! Maybe we should hand out flyers to people at visitation to raise PT awareness. lol

Thankfully, I'm right outside the downtown Dallas area so Hutchins is "down the street" from me. This is the closest he's ever done time (excluding county, obviously). I'm used to driving a minimum of 3 hours to up to 8 hours.

i was looking for someone to rideshare with that is in dallas, or going thru dallas to get there. he gets released on 10/14 but i need to see him before then! glad to see there is other ladies that go there! i gave up on finding anyone else who has a LO there!

Hey Ladies,
Has anyone been told that they only get 2 meals on the weekend? I got a letter and my fiancee said he was hungry and has lost like 15lbs.Also has anyone heard they get Gate Money when they get out or do they send them out broke?

It is true that TDCJ serves only two meals a day on the week-ends at state jail facilities like Hutchins as well as TDCJ transfer facilities.

And they do give them money when they are released. I'm not sure of the amount, but I believe it is $100. Hopefully someone will be along soon to verify or correct that!

Hi , Well my baby daddy is at hutchins . I've been a pto member for a while I have a LO at tdcj & now my baby daddy is a hutchins state jail. From what he told me yes they only give two meals on the weekends. For some reason he's writing on copy paper & making his own lines. I'm taking my kids to visit him this weekend. Will I have a contact visit even if I didn't send the common law marriage form ? I want my oldest to be able to hug his dad its been over a month he hasnt seen him .

If your kids are his kids then you get contact as long as you bring the kids... if they are not his kids you only get window visits!

Thanks I went this past Saturday & he's not allowed contact visits yet. But hopefully next time we go he will. Only thing was I didn't know I had to take a plastic bag with quarters so I wasn't able to buy a pic do u know when is picture day during the month ?

I am NOW a Hutchins wife. My husband was just transffered there yesterday or the day before. Im anxiously waiting for a call or letter. I can not wait to finally have a contact visit. He was in county over a month.

my brother was just moved to Hutchins this week. Can anyone give me any information. How are the visits? do you have to wait long to see them. Is the place dangerous? Is there AC in the summer? Can they work, and if so, what kinds of jobs are there? Do they have access to commissary? (he did not have access at Gurney) Just trying to get a feel for the facility. Any information is helpful. Thank you

I had to wait 2 weeks to get a non contact visit with my husband, and then 2 weeks more to get a contact. Hutchins is minimal security, and all and all doesn't seem to be a bad place. It seems to be safe, and he'll have commisary after he's done with the intake process. I think there's a/c, but no heat unless you're in special dorms. As far as jobs, I'm not sure what all they have, but my hubby mopped floors for awhile until he moved dorms to be in a class. As far as it is for me, visiting, it's been a pretty descent experience. Some "cops" are more "enforcing" than others. Be very careful you stick to the dress code b/c they will send your @$$ back out! I hope that helps!!!
