County to Pheonix how long before calls can be made

My husband was just moved from county jail to Phoenix last week. I got 1 free call from him and he was still in intake. Since then I have noticed 2 "attempts" on my securus acct. But my phone never rang. Does anyone know long it takes for their PIN numbers to start working And for them to be able to begin making calls. And in the meantime can I write him? Will he get it if he hasn't hit a block yet.

Is he still in orientation? PA DOC says that takes "from weeks to months" and that it takes up to 60 days to approve a phone number. Your communications may be limited to letters and visits? until he has been classified, or until he is activated on the phone system at Phoenix.

Thank you for responding . I guess he is still in orientation when I talked to him Sunday he said he still wasn't on a block. Can I call to see if his visitation lists have been approved ?

Sure, you can call, but the question is will the prison will answer the phone?

So his pin started working and he is on a block now . So he is much happier (well as happy as he can be) . I am gonna go visit on Sunday . But atleast he can call now. Thanks for helping me.
