Default What level of security prison for Felony Child Neglect/Abuse

Does anybody know what level of security prison someone would be sent to in the state of WV if convicted of felony child neglect/abuse? Also do other inmates look at those that are in for such a crime as they do child molesters? What I mean is, if you go to prison just for felony child neglect is it just as bad if it were for molestation?

Women's prison or men's prison? It might make a difference.

As I understand it initial levels are determined by time. I have a friend doing a lot of time and he was in Mount Olive. He's never even had a right up but with 8 or more years left he has to be in max. When he got down to the eight year point they moved him to Huttonsville. I think, but this is by memory, the next step was at four years, or maybe two at which point he went to the minimum at Denmar. This is time remaining until eligible for parole.
As for being a sex offender in general it seems that if you just keep quiet it doesn't come up. At least that's what I'm getting second hand. Remember, there are a LOT of sex offenders in the WV prisons. I don't know how this specific charge would be viewed but I get the impression that other inmates my never know.Good luck and never miss an opportunity to put money on his card or send a quarterly package. I can't stress how important those are.

I see this post is a few months old. Do you still need to know how it works? Depending on what degree of neglect and the alleged circumstances attached to the incident would influence the opinions or respect levels. People would definitely look down on someone for those kind of charges but wouldn't be at "toucher" level status. And you would not be put in a PC housing unit automatically unless disturbances incidence are reported.
PC (protective custody) housing units. To be housed in these areas you must be a labeled a " nusience " , create constant disturbances, or by request. Depending upon charges or the jails knowledge of previous incarnations, can land you there automatically. The general consensus of ppl in the jail (yes even employees), PC'ed inmates are not respected. You are labeled a punk (scared or cant fight) or a toucher (sexual deviant of some kind). Inmates charges are not put on display or listed in any kind of official way. However, usually through outside sources, ppls charges are usually spread by word of mouth. I hope this helps.
