Default M11 inmates as of July 1, 2016

I found this to be fascinating and terrifying at the same time. Scroll down to the bottom. I particularly found it interesting that Marion county contributed more M11 inmates to the inmate population than Washington county did. I understand why Multnomah county would have the most, as that's where there is the highest urban crime *and* that's the most densely populated county, but the Marion vs Washington county really surprised me.

Huh, Marion county also seems to have more M11 offenders on post release supervision than any other county, including Multnomah.

Salem has 4 prisons, so it doesn't seem that surprising.

It does, but you release into the county in which you were convicted. So the people on post release supervision were all (in theory) convicted in Marion county.

Perhaps there is an element of discrimination in that Marion County has a lot of Hispanic defendants…or the prosecutors are particularly harsh.

Good point - I hadn't considered the higher number of Hispanic defendants. I was thinking more along the "biased judges" or "harsher DA's" line.
