Default Pregnant daughter parole violation no prison rehab programs for women

My 3 month prego daughter was just violated upon asking for her to be sent to a rehab I was informed by a Parole officer that NYS has programs for men but none for women and thier office laughs because no women have questioned it His words were a smart woman with a good lawyer could fight them because men have better rehab opportunities then women WHY? Their expecting me to look for a long term rehab before she goes in front of the Parole judge or back to prison is where shell go which is a waste of time for an addict any thoughts or help Thanks

Get her into a rehab please! She needs to do what's right for the baby.

They will do what they do. As a pregnant offender with an addiction problem, they want the baby born without the problems caused by addiction. This means either a long term rehab, preferably starting with a locked ward, or prison until the baby is born. The focus is more on the pregnancy, not the addict/offender.

The best you can do is either find a rehab that fits the bill, or accept that your grandchild will be born in prison. If it's the prison version, you need to work with a family law attorney so that you are set up to take the baby upon birth and until your daughter gets out. This, of course, assumes you can take care of a baby - something that's difficult enough when you're younger. Those 2 am feedings when you're the grandparent can be much more difficult, especially since you probably have a job that needs your attention as well.

This is not fun, for sure. This is not the way anybody wants a grandchild coming into the world.

I believe there's binding precedent that programming offered in men's prisons has to be available in women's prisons as well.

A, that's the sort of thing I could easily be wrong about and B, a lawsuit could take years.
