Lightbulb Best Option for Getting Money to Inmate in Colorado?

Hi! I want to send some money to an inmate for the first time.
The DOC web site lists 3 vendors for getting money to inmates:
  • Jpay
  • Western Union
  • GTL
Which one you use (and why)?
Also, to deposit do you call, use web, phone, or it looks like at least two have an app?

Would luuuv any advice.

I generally use j-pay online, I've just found them to be easiest.

Jpay and GTL both have apps you can use to deposit money. I think GTL is slightly cheaper but apparently it takes longer to reach the inmates account.

GTL has been a bit less expensive than jpay recently. Check the prices for each one. You can put the money on their books online. if you are ever in Denver you can use the kiosk at the Denver Women's Facility. It is only $3.00 for any amount up to $300.00. BVCF has a kiosk also. That is the least expensive way f you can do it.

I swear by WesternUnion. It’s never failed me and if I deposit before 3pm Ct he gets the money the same day. I think the fees are a bit more than the other options but I’m willing to pay for peace of mind, accuracy and speed. Plus they have a rewards system and once you get so many points you can “redeem” them to lower / wave the fees. Also they have a mobile app which is SO easy and convenient. I literally will be driving / walking / in a mtg at work and can send him some many in just a few clicks on my phone.

For me JPay is the best. Western Union can cost a bit to use.

I've been doing this a long time and found that JPay is the most reliable.

Can you use cash at the kiosks or is it credit cards only?

The kiosks take cash. It is only a $3.00 fee no matter the amount (of course the maximum you can put on is $300.00). I know the kiosk at Buena Vista only takes cash and I don't remember if the one at the Women's Facility takes credit cards.
