Is that not discrimination??? Other counties are allowing marriages.

Frustrating..... i just want to do it so he KNOWS I'm serious- he doesn't think I will but I will. I just don't think we can, honestly. Menard is notorious for being awful about marriages. If we marry, he could transfer to NY and we could even have CONJUGAL - can you imagine??? - VISITS. I still cannot believe the only thing keeping him there is the freaking county clerk. BUT I do believe that where there is a will there is a way and if we keep requesting it will eventually happen! I need him in NY so I can visit often !!! AND better place, most likely.
Jemcc,
Interstate Compact is for people who have completed there sentence and want to transfer their parole time to another state. It is not for people to transfer their prison time to another state.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Take Care Chris

Menard does weddings in July and December. The clerks office won’t go to menard, the inmate has to have the $ on his books to pay to be transported there. But yes they do!

We are just starting the process and hope to get married at Menard in December. We originally thought he was being transferred to Lawrence but that is no longer the case. We are pretty happy about that since he is only an hour away from me and we wasn't sure how long he would have to be at Lawrence before we could get married. He has a buddy that got married last December and the wife of that inmate lives in Chicago. He has wrote the Chaplain and we are waiting to hear back. Hopefully this will be an easy process but we will see. Any help, advice, etc. is greatly appreciated. We are excited to be going down this path of wedded bliss!

Well yay for you guys!!! Congrats <3 Ok, so menard he needs $$ on his books to be transferred to the clerks off for the marriage license. After you get the packet it’ll explain a lot more. You have to do a “counseling” session together with whoever is going to marry you guys. It might be soon for this December, it takes 8-12 months to get married there from what I understand. But December might work!! Tell him start going to church every week if he doesn’t, the chaplain will ask you why you guys can’t just wait so have a solid reply for it. Oh and you can have up to six guests be there! Lawrence is far as hell, my husband was a robinson last year and is unfortunately back in at Pinckneyville on a parole violation keep me posted and best wishes!!!

Thank you for all of that info! I’m really glad he’s not going to Lawrence since that was going to be over 3 hours away from me. I was considering moving closer to him if that were going to be the case. I talked to him this morning and passed along the info you provided. We are both super excited! I hope your man gets back to you soon. I will definitely keep you updated.
