Default Can Pretrial Co Defendants see each other (Male/Female)

Hi All,

A friend is locked up in Lexington ky jail and her Uncle is there too. They are both co-defendants and no not snitching on each other. Can they visit each other while in there or exchange mail?

Nope. And if either/both of them make bail, No Contact will most likely be included in their paperwork.

Thanks for your answer! I was hoping they could. I understand why the courts wouldn't want them to do so. Just thought that since they are not testifying against each other and both are pleading out that they could. But thanks for your answer and I thought so too.

thanks for your reply. Update on this is that the jail is allowing them to write each other, yes not kites but through the regular mail (i.e. US Postal) but each letter is read prior to being sent and of course incoming. They allowed this because they are both pretrial and not testifying against each other etc.. and court approved I guess. I am getting this all second and third hand so....lol

My Mr & I were not even allowed to write when we were in county, plus my bond's conditions included a No Contact. I violated, in more ways than one, was revoked and sentenced. Once I was DOC the court had no jurisdiction over me

I understand completely Patchouli. I knew they wouldn't allow them to see each other even though they both took a plea and didn't testify against each other. I think its BS that they wouldn't let you two write each other unless there were threats made from one of you towards the other. How does the DOC expect people to "rehab" and get on with their lives if not allowed to talk to their loved ones.... I am fairly new to state DOC things but did a lot of time in the Feds, and you talk about BS restrictions and dirty games the Feds play lol. But at least they can write now.

We couldn't write while I was in county, or when on the street on probation. Once revoked, sentenced, and DOC, we could write, talk on the phone....but no visits. No worries though, that was several years back: I've been off parole a handful of years now & My Mr has been home almost 2
