Default Greeting cards allowed back in DOC facilities as of 5-1-19

I just found this out today in another group. Thank goodness, it was getting rather ridiculous. :-)

((Posted from Facebook group: This is the email response from the DOC in regards to greeting cards, postcards and drawings been sent in to love ones!! We can now start sending them in))

This is really good news. I have really missed sending cards and postcards. Thank you for postings. I am going to go find some colourful cards to send today.

Awesome news. I understand the reason behind most mail policy changes, but the impact it has on communication is huge. So happy to see this.

As I understand it, a CDOC inmate contacted a law school to see if this ruling could even be constitutional. Not wanting to get into a lawsuit, CDOC decided to remove the greeting card blanket ban. Greeting cards will receive excess scrutiny and if contraband is found within a card that inmate will be barred from receiving any further greeting cards.

I have to say it’s good to hear that the culprits of contraband smuggling will be targeted and punished and not the whole inmate population because of the poor behaviour of the few.
