Okay, all of you Cook County people (outside of Cook County, you need to persuade your Clerks and bars to be as cool as Dorothea Brown), the annual Second Chance Expungement Summit will be held:
Saturday, June 10, 2017
Unity Junior High School
2115 S. 54 Ave.
Cicero, IL 6084
I'll have more details later, but you can probably find my post about this from last year to get a good idea of exactly what's covered. Essentially, if you have a conviction from Cook and are eligible for an expungement, or have a Cook juvenile record eligible for sealing and want it done quickly and relatively painlessly, you can walk in the door on June 10 and walk out with an expungement or sealing. These things seem to change a bit, so there may be other services, both legal and social, available in the same venue.
It's all volunteer attorneys and judges. You won't have to pay for their services.
And, if you know of an Illinois attorney interested in helping out, there's trainings every Wednesday in May - just hit one of the trainings - and you get 2.5 MCLE credits. Oh, and the trainings and MCLE are free. Have them contact Dorothea Brown and get on the email list. Good time, good cause, good credits.
