My license expired last month, and I live in the same state that my husband is incarcerated in (fed prison in PA). PA extended expirations until May, and PA officers and even TSA accept expired licenses. But for some reason, I feel like if my husband gets selected to come home soon, they may give me trouble when picking him up. I know I shouldn't worry, but we know how these prisons can be.

Thank you! No confirmed release, but hubby is in a camp where they’re trying to move people to home confinement and he meets criteria, so just trying to be prepared.

If all else fails they will give him a bus ticket(s) to get home. I know it's not the best answer but I know these stats are difficult at best for renewals.
Many states offer a state ID (non driver’s license) that is usually easier to get at more clerk office locations than the driver’s license facilities. You might look into that to obtain a current ID to ease your peace of mind.
