Default SQ dental clinic cited for covid-19 risks

SAN FRANCISCO — California’s workplace safety regulator has ordered the San Quentin Prison dental clinic to stop drilling and other work because unsafe practices are spreading COVID-19, it was reported Thursday.
The California Division of Occupational Health and Safety said workers were being put at risk of infection and banned dental work that sprays droplets from the patient's mouth until the prison can meet a list of safety conditions, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

I was just to dentist a few weeks ago. They seemed to have things under control. I understand the concern. But I think a solvable problem CDCR should be able to figure out. Inmates need dental service...

Oh I didn't know they cared to try saving teeth. Last I checked all they do it pull them. Where are the cleanings? Floss? idk seems super fucked up. They cripple people by the time they can even get out.

I worked as a inmate Dental Assistant at DVI in the mid 90s. There were inmates there that were HIV positive along with Hep C. When we had one of these inmates to work on we wore protective clothing, face mask and a face shield and gloves. ( I wore a face mask, gloves and face shield for every patient we saw).I don't see why they couldn't see inmates at the Dental clinic at SQ if they followed updated safety procedures. Unless they are bitching about the cost per inmate being seen wearing full protective clothing.
