Default Release/Work Release Question

LO met with lady that is in charge of release/work release/parole. She asked if he has a social security card. What does that mean? Does it mean he is within 90 days of work release/parole/etc? He is currently 12 months from earliest release date and qualifies for work release with more than the required points.

Did he have his work release screening yet? They go over his points with him and his institutional record. After that initial screening, their paperwork is submitted to Albany for final approval, which can take months.

I'll have to ask about the social security card. I believe they help them get it, but I have to double check. My LO documents are with his counselor.

For the birth certificate, social security card, etc that is paperwork filled out with their counselor. The counselor keeps all their vital records until release. This is separate from temporary release committee.

I believe if you have them in your possession you can send them in. Also, GED or high school diploma is needed for verification as well.

Ultimately, I would read to anything too much yet until he gets a letter from Albany stating he has been approved. They don't move quickly. They probably want to make sure all paperwork is completed. Mine did everything over a year ago and is still waiting. His merit is in 8 months.

Don’t read any correlation into it.
Counselors will notice on a quarterly if someone has one or not. Having birth certificate and Ss card on release is essential for re-entry.
All normal. If he has one at home all the better.
I hope this helps.
