It sounds like your son is in a great program. He is definitely one of the lucky ones and I'm sure it will increase his chances of succeeding once he's released. I know that must give you a better sense of hope for his future. I wish I could say the same thing!

Thanks, as well, for all the articles, etc. that you post. You seem to be a wealth of information and I appreciate it!

Hi tglsmom, You're welcome. I never thought I would learn about prisons so much more than I ever wanted to. Hahah! My son is my best teacher in many ways...

This a website for an organization for rehab programs, but it gives us a quick idea about the subject. More later.

Not sure how many of you...that i know, are still here.

My son is still serving his 15 Year sentence he, has 3 years to go...He has done well. He works, goes to school and has managed to "Mostly" stay out of trouble...a few minor things in the past 9 years.

All in All...his Mind, Body and Spirit are in Tact! And that is most important to me.
It has been a Hard Year...To say the least.

I pray for everyone here...
Hello Thank you for your post and may God keep his arms around all of us. I visited this site a few years ago and prayed that I would not have to be here again. Unfortunately, that is not the case and who better to understand than another parent who feels the same pain everyday.
I hope this time goes quickly for your son and for you for I know that he is not in it by himself. This journey is just about to start over for me and i'm just trying to stay sane and healthy.

My son has spent most of his time in private corp run prison. So many problems but he adjusted and knew his way around so he didn't want to move and have to adjust to change. Circumstances forced him to move to a state run prison a short time ago. He likes it better. Less drama he said. Both prisons are the same custody level. Initially in AZ they put them in a high custody level and so his initial experience was in a very rough state prison. I think that was mostly why he didn't want to leave the private prison. Anyway, like you, I have done a lot of research on them, GEO, MTC, CCA (whose name has changed now), and not only is the private prison for profit business scary, but money they provide to lobbyists, politicians, and prosecution groups that contribute to prevent the change that is needed in our criminal justice system.
