A special chair that Crawford County Sheriff Tom Hogan designed to prevent violent inmates from hurting jailers and themselves has blossomed into an international enterprise — and landed at the center of an international controversy.
...Hogan and his wife, Peg, manufacture the chairs under the name E.R.C. Inc. They've sold about 2,000 for use in jails, prisons and psychiatric hospitals in all 50 states, Canada and several other countries. The Polk County Jail is among Hogan's customers....
