Default Do you all get cards or anything from your LO?

I got the idea here to send Travis Easter cards & put on the outside don’t open until Easter. He’s so happy about it. Then today he said he feels bad he can’t get me a card. Or do anything. Then he said he remembered JPay had some Easter graphics or something he could send me. I told him I didn’t need anything from him but just talking to him & his letters. Are the cards expensive? Do all prisons have them available for inmates to purchase?

For a few years my husband was known as Mr. Hallmark. At his facilities I could send in 10 greeting cards and envelopes per mailing. So I would send them for Mother's Day, a bunch of generic birthday, romance, Valentine's Day. He'd sell them on his yard for soups or coffee. There are usually inmates who draw or design cards for sale, commissary usually has them and as you said, Jpay probably does. It does require a little bit of income so that can be a challenge at times.

I know when he sends me a card or piece of artwork that he's had to pay for it and I know what he goes through to make that happen. It's very thoughtful and I'm also understanding of the times he's unable.

I send him cards to send out to his family. He has a guy make me stuff. Sometimes they take time to be done and I'll get them after the holiday.

It all depends. Usually when he gets someone to draw me cards it usually costs him a couple soups. I know sometimes inmates can get cards from the chaplain bit they aren't like hallmark cards or anything but its still the thought that counts. He actually sent me recently a bday and a valentine actual hallmark card he bought off someone. I love when he sends me cards ❤

My husband doesn't write as often as I do but when he does he goes all out. I get the most beautiful cards and letters from him. He said he pays 2$ per card but I can see why they are pretty awesome.

I always got beautiful cards from my husband. I started doing the same as Mia. I'd hit dollar tree and get the 2/$1. cards and sent ten blanks at a time, I also sent him books of stamps. I also sent envelopes and paper. It was cheaper for me then him and he could trade for stuff.

We can't do that here I'm Michigan. Everything must be bought through commissary or other inmates.

I know some places can't even get greeting cards anymore. It's sad.

Just wondering does any of their prisons let someone order embossed envelopes directly from post office to inmate? I can't mine but I know other prisons have.

Also, if he doesn't have money on his books he can't purchase anything. I don't know your situation.

Different country, different situation but I receive greeting cards from my brother. The cards available for purchase are really tacky [as in design, like appropriate for 1980s love songs] but they are cheap at 45 ₽ [78 cents US] and he can buy many at a time.

Sometimes I laugh cause I can relive holidays cause I don’t get the cards until months late. It is times like this it is good to have a „ quick messaging “ service to send a festive emoji / letter / photo first.

I have received cards occasionally from him. Now that Colorado isn't accepting cards inside prison (all cards sent in will be photocopied and the copy given to the prisoner) I am not sure he will be able to send out cards anymore. The cards he did send were donated.

December 2016 for my birthday he sent out his sweatshirt (he had paid for it) because it shrank too much to cover his torso. It has his name and DOC number on it. I don't care lol. I now sleep in it in the winter or hug it at night the rest of the year.

My husband is an artist, so he usually draws and makes his own cards and sends them to me. I get one for every holiday, birthday, and anniversary... or if he just feels like sending me one. He’s never sent one already made, so I’m not sure how much they are, but I’d imagine not very much. But, I wouldn’t want him to spend money on cards. I’d much rather him use that money on sending me pictures of him or simply on just things he wants/needs in there.
He’s in Colorado, and they don’t allow cards anymore (I rarely sent them anyway). But he can still send cards out (pre made ones) - and I only know that because he recently got a card from the chaplain to send to my father for his birthday.

My Baby sends me cards all the time, but they are all hand made. He is a pretty good artist, so he makes them for every holiday, birthday, and sometimes just because. He also does the same for my children and his. I'm not sure about anything being available in commissary as he always just does them himself.

My baby sends me cards he has made for me. He will send them out in time for me to get them for a holiday. For mother's day he send me the most beautiful card in the email mail and two on jpay. He always try to make sure I know he loves me and is thinking of me.

D sends regular cards and hand made ones-they're extra big and so beautifully done-never seen anything like it! I also like sending him cards or pretty stationary. I will also put on the envelope-please don't open until... He sometimes peeks, but tries to wait. I like to do things like "please don't open until Sat afternoon" or "Sunday at 1:37"-it's corny but he likes that and esp since they don't get mail on the weekends.

I'm a sucker for my guy's sweaters/hoodies. I would love if he sent me his!
