Default CIM - Reception Center Q's & A's

Does anyone know what the average waiting time in reception is? They say between 30-90 days but what they say and what they actually do doesn't match up a lot of the time so I was curious... (The slow mail and no phone situation is killing me already) Thanks

There is really no way of knowing. It varies from person to person.

I believe so, however with all of the laws changing and people getting early kicks inmates will be moved around but I guess it would depend on the length of their term... them again it is the CDC we are talking about.

It looks like my LO is getting a ticket in the next few weeks to CIM. He'll be in the infirmary until the new medical facility in Stockton is opened.

Anyone with experience with the infirmary? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Charlie

Yes, we're still at Avenal but looking at CIM (probably) in the next couple of weeks. Glad to hear we'll like CIM better because it's a hell of a lot longer haul for me than Avenal.

The Stockton facility is due to open June/July and they're hoping to have all the inmates transferred there by the end of the year.

If anyone does have some info on the infirmary/medical unit, please let me know. Info is power.

Charlie

Hello I spoke with my husband and he is on the medical yard, which is the yard that inmates that have illness go to. I can inbox you the specific yard if you like. Chino is alot further for me also 5 hour drive now but once I was there it was so worth it!

Thank you. Please feel free to DM me any and all information you can/want to. I enjoyed your posts on Avenal and I'm sure I'll appreciate communicating with you about Chino.

You know there is always the stress caused by the unknown so any info I can give my LO will ease his mind some. With his current cardiac problems I want to keep him as calm as possible.

Thanks again,
Charlie

OK, quick question about CIM. This question is for general population, NOT reception (rules are different you know).

At Avenal, where my LO is transferring from, all his electronics were taken when he transferred in--tv, hot pot, battery charger, etc. With Avenal's electrical problems inmates are limited to what can be run off of disposable batteries.

So, at CIM, are they allowed electronics? I'm particularly interested in if they are allowed the battery chargers and the hot pots.

Oh, and are regular disposable batteries for sale at the prison store?

Thanks,
Charlie

The can have hot pots to I just ordered my husband one. THey sale batteries at the store. They dont have the electrical problem there thank Goodness

Good to hear. That right there is a HUGE improvement over Avenal.

My man has a hotpot, tv and well, he had a fan but when he was brought back to court here his cellie called me and said the CO's shook their cell and blah blah blah the fan ended up being confiscated. Then my man got back (it took 4 months here) but eh, he's got his electronics and Miss Cornbread is right, they don't have any problems with electrical at Chino!
