Calls from US-Prison to Germany on local rate?

If I'm not wrong, I've read anywhere in this forum about the possibility for inmates in US to call overseas though it's normally not possible because of the number of digits.

Can anybody help?

You can get a Skype number from his area and forward it to you, but you have to look if his prison has some laws about it. And there is some others they offer you the same service. For me it works great with Skype, but it's only cheap if the calls go to a landline.

Where would I look to find out if they have laws about call forwarding , like Skype or cellphones in general? My man and I have used that for over a year and it was great. But he got transferred to CA last week and ever since then I cannot accept his calls anymore.I can hear his voice saying his name and the instruction to press 5 to accept the call...when I do that , nothing happens and after 2 seconds the phone goes dead. I have no idea what could be wrong.I am really upset about this and I know how much he wants to talk to me.

I only know that CA uses GTL.
(the state prisons anyway.......if he's federal, you would have to check on the federal forums)
There are tons of threads in the CA forums regarding gtl.
I had ATT (a phone company) and was able to accept collect calls from my hubs prison without an account with GTL.

I do know call forwarding and three way calling are not allowed with CA prisons. Not sure if skype is considered that or not....

I think it's best to check with the facility before you spend any money. For instance, none of the State Facility in Texas (TDCJ entities) allow international calls. Sorry if your LO is in Texas! Good luck!

They are just in the process of allowing Texas inmates to call cell phones, but still no international calls. However it's a step forward with cell phones, just need to get a U:S cell phone, although it does need to be a contract phone registered to a US address.
It's always a pleasure dealing with the crap the great state of Texas dishes out!

Hi all, still looking for honest company where I can hook up with so my Son can call me out of Florida to Germany . I know that Securus is the only company you can use in Texas. I don't know about FL rules. You may want to check out the Florida Prison Phones, Packages & Mail Forum. I wish you the best of luck!

Thanks Renee, they do prefer SecuresTechnologies --- I have to see what I am going to do now...don´t want to spend all this Money and then end up not be able to receive calls from my son
