Default Intro--Drea74 from Texas

Hello,

I'm new to this prisontalk. My son was the one that told me about this site to get valuable information to any questions I may have. Let me start by giving a little insight on my circumstance. My Son is 28, serving a 3 year sentence in the TDCJ, he has been moved to a few units already. He is currently in the Goodman Unit. He finally, Thank God made parole. The days have not been easy since I found out my son is having problems in his unit. It's difficult to trust anyone he says. He's asked to be put in Seg for his own protection. Now with this COVID-19 epidemic I don't know if he's ok. Last time I spoke to my son was on the 18th of June. I worry for his safety & pray he is ok. Does anyone know what's going on at the Goodman unit?

One thing I have learned is while it's easier said than done... don't worry until there's something to worry about.... My husband is very "anal" on times. If he misses a particular time that he generally calls I'm convinced the world has ended and then he calls later... something was up. With COVID we're doing more calls but prior to this we did calls twice a week and I emailed every day. He wasn't. His initial idea was nothing was going on there and he didn't think I had asked anything in my email and so he didn't think he had respond. One or two days he didn't even check his email in the beginning. Here I was at home convinced he was sick, or got beat up or you know the drill... the same thing we do every time one of our kids don't answer our calls out here in the "free" world. We're convinced they're in a ditch somewhere. It's all kind of the same thing when they are there except we have to let them contact us. I would give it a few more days and then you start looking for someone here, or on other sites to connect and maybe check on things.

Many prisons have their own Facebook pages or there's also FAMM. I have been in the position where I have been able to get a message to my husband, who got messages to others he knows to see if they could find out where someone may be because their loved one hasn't heard from them. Beyond that you then try to contact the chaplain at the prison some way to check on him. But first you have to breath .... Good luck

Thank you all! I received a phone call from the Chaplin at the Goodman Unit letting me know my son is ok. He told me that the unit is on lock down due to the corona virus. Said to expect a letter from my don soon. Didn't really answer all my questions, but gave me piece of mind.

That's great to hear... sometimes you just have to take what you can get and make it the small goals....

I'm so relieved that you got reassurance that he's okay. We're all here for you in the meantime!
