Exclamation I think my penpal has passed

I have a TX inmate that I have been writing for almost 11 years. The last I heard he was in the Carole Young Medical Facility. Today I checked and there is no inmate listed on the TX DOC site with his name and/or number. Is there a way I can find out what happened to him since I was only a pen friend?

Hi there I am sorry to hear you may have lost your penpal. There may be other reasons why his details may not be showing.I hope someone with experience of the Texas system will have more information.
Do you have any contact with his family? They may have more information.
I hope you are able to find some answers.

You can maybe try the Texas eComm site & jPay to see if he is still listed there.

He's not listed on either. That's why I think he may have passed.

Thank you. He only ever mentioned one family member (but never game me his name), and I know when they first moved him to the hospital they were having trouble contacting any of his family.

You might call the Chaplains Office and see what you can come up with. Being that you're not immediate family could be a barrier to info provided, but I'm not sure on that. You also might go through his letters and see if there's any way of contacting someone that maybe he's mentioned in the past to you. There's gotta be a way to find out, just stay with it. I'm sorry for your loss.
