Default Hello again ladies and dads

So SeanMichael is in Gurney Unit here in Texas. At least now I know where he is.

So when I was here before, just before Ryan got out, seems I remember that there was a company that was goi g to put together packages of books and writing paper and such. Did that ever come about? And if it did, can someone provide me the name.

He says hes fine. Hes in a fifty man dorm. They eat in front of him and he is losing weight. He says he is starving for something good to read.

I can not believe I am on this path once again..

Sorry to hear that. Second kid sent to prison. It must feel like you're going to prison for a second prison term. I'm reading in that you've been gone for a while. Good luck; hope you find help getting through this here.

Well, the short answer would be his short way is in November, but we all know the prison system is not set up that way. His projected long way is 04/20/2028.

I found some things called prison packs, but the are all just food stuffs. He was socks, T-shirt’s, shower shoes, drawing tablets, paper back books... so Iam making him a pack up at Amazon and having it sent. Then I will put less than 40.00 on his books for goodies.

Honestly, I feel like I am being stretched thin with this go around. But he’s my son...and while others may give up on him...I just can’t...not yet anyways.

So glad to see some familiar names...but sad to see some families names.

Loving you all,

Lisa

It isn't any easier to have to go through it again. You have an idea how things go but it's still not easier. Stay strong & take care of yourself.
I know how important having reading material is to some people inside. My son said it was awful where he was in GA. I did get some books sent to his prison library from a non profit near me. There is a nonprofit out of Austin that sends books to TX people iside. https://insidebooksproject.org/

I also used a magazine service to order him some magazines that he liked. It was $25 for 6 of them but now they have 10 for $35. There was a wide variety of really good ones. https://www.inmatemagazineservice.com/index.php/en/ They are good about getting them to them even if they get transferred to another location.

Thank you for all your responses. I did find that the tdcj website has a store that I can buy from and it will go to him...ecommdirect...so it’s a thing now. However, I did find out that he has not been getting any of his jpay letters since transferring from Gurney Unit to Hutchins. This upsets me greatly, because since Ryan got out, their father passed away on Halloween, two years ago...so I’m all he has., in my last handwritten letter to him, I did tell him that while I do not like nor support his old lifestyle...he’s my son and I’ll never let him be alone in life. Not sure of anything else that I can do.

Thanks for being here and letting me rant..yet again.

Hi, sorry to hear that you are back with us but you know there is support here and a lot of knowledge about the Texas system.

I think that is all we can do and what we do often do best in their lives. I know that being alone and thinking no one cares is one of the worst fates for many in prison.

I am happy you could send him some things he wanted. In Arizona we can't send anything directly. We can buy them food and hygiene through a specific vendor and order books and music directly from certain places. It made it tough because the things needed and wanted, like socks, often would mean a lot more..

I’m so sorry you’re going through this again. I think if our kids had to feel what we go through because of them for ONE DAY, they’d try really hard to fix their problems. I’m not sure they could actually do it, but I really think they’d try harder.

They have no idea what they’re putting us through.

I’m just going to say what it seems like I always say: You are not alone! Hang in there.
