Default No Letters, Really??

So I've never heard of this, but today as I go to the Post Office to send my Baby some pics and letters, the post lady tells me that you can no longer send letters only post cards??....WTF comes to mind and I ask her are you sure? Cuz I jus sent letters the other day??..she tells me alot of ppL are comin in an sayin that??..she also said the Prison can receive them jus not the Jail..my husband is housed in a jail but is in Prison and there are plenty of jails in this state How the heck can they do that?
Well since I have a few friends whom their Man is in with my Husband I txt them..they said they've never heard anything like that??...I ended up sending the letters and told the postal lady if they send them back then its true??
Have any of you heard of such a thing, not allowing letters only post cards???

When my husband was in county it had to be written in postcards or index cards only. It sucked!

Some prsion also only allow postcards.
It totally sucks but cuts down a lot on staffing needs and saves money.
I guess you learn to write really small
I wonder if they accept letters from one of the letter service companies that service the prisons?

I've moved your thread here to the Utal mail forum so that members from your area can weigh in. If it were me I'd just call the prison ask for the mailroom and see what's up. Best of luck to you.

When my bf was in county we could only send postcards. I would go to Office Max and ask for card stock and they would take them and cut them in 1/2 so i would have a big post card to write on.

It sucked! And not only that the jail would remove the stamp so i always had to make sure i didn't write in that spot.

Maybe the postal worker is wrong and you can still send letters.
