My question is to anyone that has gotten married in HDSP. What days are the weddings done on, and do the prison get the license or do I have to get it myself? Please help me out THANK YOU

I heard over the weekend when I visited that they only do weddings in June and October from a lady who got married there and it is on Saturdays. The marriage packet is requested by your hubby to be and then you have to get the marriage license, his birth certificate, your birthcertificate, divorce decrees if either of you was married in the past and pay the fee. You then submit all of that and you get a date. I have not made it through the whole process yet we are waiting on birth certificates and all. If anyone has more information or I am wrong please reply.

She is right! They ask you to feel out the packet, get a certified birth certifcate for yourself and him,and a copy of your driver license. You will then send the packet and the necessary attachments to the marriage coordinator. The marriage coordinator (Mrs.Branch) will review the packet and make sure it's complete then coontact your fiance's counselor and verify he is allowed to marry and all that.Once everything is complete and your papers are processed they will notify your fiance and you will get your date.I believe they do weddings the 3rd Saturday...I turned in my papers Feb 10th and will be checking in on the process tomorrow. One lady told me she waited a year and I don't want them to let my papers sit and collect dust so I will consistently be checking in.I spoke with another lady who sumbitted her packet as well and was told sometime in June or July and she sumbitted 5 days before me..Hope that helps but have your fiance get the packet from the chaplain and get the process going!

Oh yea the day before the wedding you have to meet at the Lassen County Clerk and pay the $163 in cash to obtain the license. The wedding will be performed by the legal representative of the Lassen County Clerk's Office. The bride to be can bring no more than 10 guest who must be approved visitors prior to the wedding. The groom can have two inmate guests from his yard to attend.(Must submit names,CDCR #,housing to marriage coordinator at least 7days before the wedding) For the wedding you have to report to Visitor processing center by 8am.

Dang. My friend was moved to D6 last year - I can't believe he has been in his cell 24/7 for FIVE MONTHS NOW?? What the h** ! Mail has been slow as molasses. It takes almost 20 days for my letters to make it to him... And I'm in CA! Who here has someone in D6 - Do the cells have windows there? I know Z unit cells do not (only skylights)... Does D6 house solely Ad Seg inmates? That's what Records said when I called and asked, but I was wondering if you guys know...

I don't really know the difference between D6 and Z unit but I've got a friend in Z unit and he gets my letters in about 6-8 days. And I'm in Sweden. 20 days sounds like a lot!

Does anyone know if there's a way to look up what cell# the inmate is in? I've looked on CDCRs website but it only says the facility. Do I have to call someone (who?) or could I email? I don't live in the U.S so I'd prefer something cheaper than calling lol.

Our friend was transferred from NKSP to HDSP, I believe our friend is a level 4, in yard B, if someone can direct me on what I need to do to visit and what to expect once we make the long drive, I would be very grateful.

Default rules for letters

Hello,

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere in this forum there was some rules to follow about the letters, I mean like the colour of the envelope/the paper or the fact we couldn't put stickers on it. I'm just getting bored of the plain white paper and I was wondering if I could write on some printed paper, you know the one with drawing as a background...so nothing too fancy.
I just can't find this thread again and I'd like to be sure sure he get my letter at HDSP, as there is no point to make a more "colourful" letter if he doesn't get it. -_-'

Thanks ^^

The worst is I did have a look at this post-it, but when I saw item you can send/ you can't send, I thought that was exclusively about what we can put inside the envelope. <- not sure that's clear. ^^ Anyway, I'm kinda blind. -_-'
But thanks Sidewalker! I will be more careful next time. ^^

I still don't see if you're allowed to use colored paper or pens.

I've used colored pens without any problem. I'm not sure if HDSP allows colored paper, though.
