Default Anyone else going crazy from not seeing your LO during this outbreak?

I was 13 days away from seeing my man for the first time in 20 years when they shut down visitation due to corona. Now it's summer, and I still can't go. Anyone else on pins and needles because they can't visit their LO? I will say this, we get a LOT of phone time, and I am VERY grateful for that! I couldn't imagine existing on what some of you get. (although to be fair, I'm lucky to get a letter a week from him lol) Anyone else checking daily to see if there's any news of it opening back up? How are you surviving?

I'm in IL - one of the states that remains on restrictions. Haven't seen my son since February and we've always visited 4-5 times/month. I miss him a lot but more than that his son misses him.

When you go to 15 hours a week to 0, its about as depressing as you can get.

It’s been over 90 days now since I have seen my girl. It’s been mind numbing. She has 50 more days left and it is really tough. If we had visits it would be easier but we don’t even have video visits. Only the one call a day.

Ugh. At least we're in this together. Studebaker, not much longer. Wish mine had 50 days! I'd say it is harder when you're used to visiting. I tell myself at least then I would have memories, but you can't tell till you've done it yourself.

Itís hard not being able to visit but it would even harder to know a loved had got sick. Cancelling visiting is painful but itís being done for safety reasons. Hopefully things will improve with social distancing in place. Visiting may be different and shorter for a while but at least we get to see loved ones face to face.

I appreciate it. I do feel a survivors guilt about my girl having little amounts of time because I know so many here are on a long haul, and some are looking at a complete haul so to speak. I am humbled here among many that can keep it positive in the tough conditions.

I just do though wear my heart on my sleeve and express my pain even though I am sitting here on the edge of getting her home. I am hopeful that this situation will be the first and last time we do this and going forward it will be one of lifes very valuable lessons that has introduced me to a great community, and a set of social awareness and tools that set myself apart from the rest of the world. I know a new antenna has grown from this experience and it is profound.

I am very thankful for being able to find this site, and the people such as yourself that have opened their heart and helped me on this path.

No.
Havenít seen him since the first weekend in November of last year and the next visit totally depends on possible prolonged travel restrictions due to Covid and for me also immigration restrictions (thanks to the US Asshole in Chief). I might have to sit this one out until probably next year...
So no. Not going crazy whatsoever.
Talking on the phone just about every day.

Here in PA-DOC. Got so used to seeing the hubs once or twice a month. Last visit was early February. We get free 45 minute Zoom video monthly which has been a great relief. Can't wait til we can be in each other's presence again.

Yep, cancelled visiting has stopped the virus from getting inside.

We went a year fighting to get visits back, got them and then this happened. But it’s ok. I was spending way to much money on travel and visit expenses. Looking on a more positive side, I’ve actually built up my savings from this pandemic because my kids stopped going to daycare and no traveling.

Plus I’m going more crazy from being locked down with three kids under 6years old.

No, this hasn't been the longest we've gone without visiting with each other. The one positive in all of this, I know and understand the reason why.

I remember when he got written up for something extremely stupid he did and we didn't have calls for 6 MONTHS... I found that a lot harder than not being able to visit.

This is a good example of showing everyones unique struggles to maintain the essential connection with loved ones through this stuff. Definitely humbling to see and be part of so much people that are dedicated to maintaining that connection. Alot of love in this room.

So were your visits suspended during that time too?

I had a plan to go every four months. I literally just visited the last week of February, just before this started, so this month would have been my next visit... but no.. I"m good. In return of no visits I get a phone call every day now. Before we only did two calls a week and then emails every other day but with the free calls that has helped and yeah, I'm missing this visit but we'll get through it. We have already decided that I won't be going right away when they open up (federal) regardless of restrictions because it will be crazy busy, if there are restrictions on time, touching...etc. as NY has proposed we have decided to wait even longer. My husband said he doesn't expect visits to open up even until the first of the year. We get through with goals... so for instance we planned 8 visits and a pick up... while I'm not seeing him this month... it was a visit time. October will be another. If that doesn't go through that is two more down. That has us half way through. I'm good... I live with what I have and what I can deal with...

I was living in Germany during this time and didn't visit but I hardly remember but he was in seg for 45 days and he had visits behind glass and after seg... I seriously don't remember... should I ask him next time I'll talk to him?
(it wasn't a violent offense, he just did some stupid ass stuff with the sergeant's phone meant as a joke and got his ass kicked - rightfully so )

I think I’m one of the lucky ones in that I’m in the U.K. and he’s never had video visits before. They’ve specifically put them in place during the physical visit suspension. So I’m getting to see him every week atm albeit only for 15mins! Can’t wait until I can have a physical visit again though! Video visits aren’t quite the same.
