MSNBC’s Ari Melber confronts Senate candidate Joe Arpaio over his immigration record and fact checks Arpaio’s claim that accepting President Trump’s pardon doesn’t mean he’s guilty. The Supreme Court ruled otherwise as Melber explains on The Beat.

Min 4:25, Melber asks why he accepted a pardon, admitting guilt, if he isn't guilty. Arpaio shows his misunderstanding of a pardon.

Goodbye, Joe Arpaio: Last in the Senate Race, First in 'Blood, Slime, and Misery'
"Joe Arpaio’s quixotic bid to replace U.S. Senator Jeff Flake ended Tuesday with the former Maricopa County sheriff, as expected, coming in dead last in the GOP primary, behind chemtrail-aficionado Kelli Ward and winner Martha McSally."

Ohhh happy day!!
It's only too bad that he will be allowed to slink off into infamy while taxpayers work to pay off the millions in debt he created through lawsuits and wrong-doing.

At least he won’t get the chance to do anymore damage.

Arpaio represents a lock em up, throw away the key, and treat them like the dogs they are mentality for anyone who does anything worse than jaywalking. Unfortunately there will always be a portion of the population that thinks that way. He got some 15% to 20% of the vote. The fact he got that he garnered national attention and got even that much vote gives you an idea.

I suspect or at least hope this finally ends the Arpaio sideshow and it will be the last we hear of him.

Unfortunately, men like him don't go away. Their egos are too large.

True. But the stage and audience goes away. I believe this pathetic showing in the election ends the national spotlight.

There's still time to hope, however...
Former MCSO Sheriff Joe Arpaio sues New York Times for defamation

A complaint within the lawsuit states Arpaio plans to run for Senate in 2020.

"Plaintiff Arpaio’s chances and prospects of election to the U.S. Senate in 2020 have been severely harmed by the publication of false and fraudulent facts in the Defamatory Article," the lawsuit notes. "This also harms Plaintiff financially, as his chances of obtaining funding from the Republican establishment and donors for the 2020 election have been damaged by the publication of false and fraudulent representations in the Defamatory Article."

Arpaio is seeking $147,500,000 in damages, as well as attorneys’ fees and costs.

And of other note, the article below states that "The Times published Cottle’s op-ed after Arpaio was defeated by Martha McSally in the primary race for Jeff Flake's Senate seat."

He would have lost the race even if he'd won the nomination. McSally, who is slightly more likeable and less Wild West (again, slightly) than Arpaio looks to lose to "uber liberal" Sinema, albeit by less than 2%. She has the W in the major metro areas and only one county of 14 solidly supported McSally.

We flipped a red seat in the house, our gubernatorial race was energizing. And we're at midterm. This is exciting. Sit it out, Joe.

I wouldn’t worry. He’s very elderly. He’s 86 years old. He will be nearly 90 years old then and could have lost capacity by then.
