Default Dumb can I mail it question: Can I mail a blank birthday card?

My fiancé asked me to mail him a birthday card for our daughter so he can mail it to her.

I was looking online at list of what we can send and I noticed we cCAN send blank greeting cards but right after that is listed it lists all paper must be plain.

Dumb question: So for greeting cards, do they mean blank as in NOTHING on it?

Thanks as always!

I heard, you can't because they will think your husband will sell it. I might be wrong. But in case just write a msg in pencil so your husband can erase and write a msg to your daughter.

I have done this a time or two and it works. Hubby just has to create a new envelope.

How very thoughtful of him to want to do this.

If you can send it to him (no glitter, music, etc) then you can send it to him blank. I send it and the envelope in a bigger envelope so he doesn't have to make one. You can send five, I know because I have.

Hello there yes you can send bd or any other cards the main thing is it cannot have any special trims attached, sparkle, etc. Just a plain nice card is fine I send them to my grandson to send to family I also usually put stamp on envelope so they can save their's to use for letters etc. Just make sure nothing extra attached to card. Hope this helps simonsezfl

Just have to check the prison you are sending these stamped envelopes to as not all prisons allow stamps to be sent in. They are something that can be bought in the canteen. I think it is a great idea tho if you are able to send them. Wish we could here in Kentucky.

No mam. This is a Florida specific question and all Florida PRISONS, even the private ran, allow stamps to be sent.

babygirl350, I could not send stamps when he was in the county jail but it is nice to be able to now!

I spoke with him and he received the card and stamped envelope, so all is good!

That's correct, very few County Jails allow you to send anything. They want you to put it in their account so they control more.

But, all the State Prisons in Florida allow you to send stamps.

Sometimes I think it's a mix up of terminology and noticing what forum the thread is in that you are replying to.....it's all good.

My sincere apology. You are absolutely right and I was absolutely wrong for posting this in the Florida forum. Thanks for correcting me.

Yes, in Florida you can send blank cards. Up to ten! I often grab 50 cent cards at the $ store & mail them in the big yellow envelopes with sticky seal (no metal clasp), also from the $ store. He likes to send them to his 4 year old son.

Yes. Since asking my question and getting an answer here I have sent my fiancé several cards with no issue.
Just make sure you don't send them in a bubble wrap mailer! My fiancé's mother sent him paper and envelopes but they were returned for being in a bubble wrapper. I just use the NON bubble wrapper envelopes from Dollar Tree- the sticky adhesive kind- no brads either

Can these blank cards also be sent with blank envelopes? (the envelopes that normally come with them)

I am seriously jealous. In CT we cannot send stamps, envelopes, paper or cards. When I have made him tons of copies (case law, policies, federal acts...) it can be impossible to keep it together without clips, staples or elastics. So I organize it by section and put each section into a 9x12 envelope. Then I have to rip off the seal and label the envelope with the contents--because there has to be writing on the envelope for them to let it through (and the gummed part can't be attached as it could be soaked in drugs). I would love to send him blanks!

OP, given how states are so different from one another, it more foolish to stay quiet when you have a question. It is good you asked!

I have bought some cards to send to my man. I'm a lit bit confused when it says blank. Does that mean the inside of card is blank and they must write a message and then sign it or does blank mean there is a message already printed on the cards inside as usual and it doesn't have to be signed by anyone?

You can send a card with a message or without either one you wrote or the greeting card company wrote.
Just make sure the card does not have any glitter, string, ribbon, sound, cut outs, extra paper, etc. NOTHING FANCY! (DOC will return them- I know from experience!

Dollar Store has simple plain card for 2/$1

In this context, the word blank means unused or unsigned. ie: blank = not having been filled in by the user yet.
