Default Intro-- Andromeda from Texas - Beto Texas Prison Unit

Hello all,
I just joined the Prison Talk family but I've been reading the informative posts for a while now. I have a question that I need some help with if anybody can help me. My boyfriend is at the Beto One unit in Tennesse Colony. How do I go about submitting our common law papers? Do I have to go to the court house in that county for anything? Or do I just type the papers up and have it notarized? Also, can I send them in or does he have to be the one to send them in? Where does he send them? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just so confused about what we need to do. I've typed the affidavit up, filled out my page and had it notarized, I then sent the papers to him for him to fill his out and turn them in but he is getting frustrated because he's getting the run around about what his next step is. Please help if you can! Thanks

Welcome to PTO- -
go to the court house of your county, they have ALL the papers you need.
YOU fill out YOUR part, send him his part- -court will explain all. to
He goes to the law library at his unit. might take about a week, no more than that, signs them and has it notorized, mails them back to you.
The, you and a "prozy" go before a judge and get married.
Then, (prozy does not get a honeymoon with you), then you mail his copy to him and and one copy to the warden's office of that unit to be put in his file- -or, he can have his copy put in his fileeither way.
You will be legally married in the state of Texas and in the dip eyes of TDCJ, (sorry, hand just had to write dip).
Be safe- -and upcoming congradulations!!!!!!!!!!!

Once your husband sends the forms back to you all you need to do is mail them to Beto "Attn: Inmate Records". They will make the change. It usually takes about a week or two for them to do so. Small mentioned the law library but if I remember right the common law form doesn't have to be notarized by him. Plus, TDCJ does NOT notarize anymore. Now if you actually want to get married by proxy then all Small said is good. (That's how hubby and I got married--thru proxy.) Best wishes!

Default What is Beto like!

Hello there mylove6, is there anything in particular you want to know about the Beto unit? My husband has only been there for about 10 months or so, and well what can I say. It has it's up and downs like everywhere else. It can be a tough unit to be at, depending what side you are on. I hear the South Side is where you don't want to be. Truth is I've gotten to like Beto quite a bit, because of the support I have gotten from there. They offer programs such as Day with Dad, where you and your child get to spend an afternoon with your husband. It's a 5hr visit. And then I recently went to a marriage seminar that was also 5hrs long and they help you to get closer to each other, and help you to understand what each of you are going through. I've met alot of wives from the Beto unit and it's great to call them up and talk to them, knowing that I'm not the only one going through this.
So if you have any questions please feel free to send me a message and I will try and help in any area that I can. Or send me an email, would love to chat.

Take care and God Bless you and your family
