Oh Nancy....just the person so. My man doesn't know what the story is with the vending machines. He knows I need to get a card but do I bring cold hard cash or can I use a debit card to put credit on it or what way does it work? thanks x

From what I understand the vending machines only take a card. You buy the card before you go in the visit. The card costs $5 Then you add money to the card at a machine my friend thinks you put cash in the machine and it adds it to the card.

He said the food and drinks are way over priced and he told me not to bother. However he wont get lunch at our visit and I am diabetic so I guess we will get something drinks and some snacks at least.

Umm nothing like a romantic meal of processed chicken nuggets and microwaved burger on a first date all washed down with soda served at luke warm temperature. Its important to set the bar high from the start lol
Its harsh that they dont get a meal if they are on visit.

Hahahahahahaha he's lucky I'm not high maintenance right???? Although to be fair if I was high maintenance I don't think I'd be with someone who's in prison!!!

Nope in a prison relationship you learn to make the most of whatever comes your way even if its a romantic meal of burger and soda.

Thanks for the compliment on my user name. A bit of a nod to my heritage :-) and of course what we wish my loved one could have.

I don't know how much it is to purchase the vending cards at AVCF. My advice is to take some singles and a $5.00 bill. At the previous facility one had to use a $5.00 bill. At the current facility one uses a $1.00 bill to purchase the card. Make sure to take a variety of bills so that you have whatever it is that the machine takes. I would plan on spending close to $20-$30 for the two meals, drinks and snacks ( but we like to treat him to whatever we can).
Our routine is to get a breakfast burrito or sandwich for breakfast and then lunch of whatever he wants. At our new facility (and I have heard at all facilities now but I don't know for sure) they have very good salads to purchase. They have Cobb, Southwestern, Caesar and 1 or 2 other varieties. They all have meat and are fresh and tasty. They also have very delicious cakes. We always enjoy sharing a meal no matter what we have, it is the sharing not the food that is important to us.

This is correct. The only thing I would add is to take a $5 bill to purchase the card. Some think you can use ones or twenties but no can do. During the weekend food goes pretty fast so I would get all the food you think he would want right when you get there. If you have a special visit during the week, you can assume that the machines are (90% empty. When they do stock, the food is actually decent (compared to other facilities) but VERY overpriced. You can plan on spending $6 per item.

If your concerned with him missing chow for the visit, you may want to tell him to eat breakfast before the visit.

Also, this facility is VERY strict on the dress code. I'd make sure you read and re-read the rules. Also ALWAYS take a change of clothing just in case.

Like I said about purchasing the cards, at Territorial it is a single dollar bill to purchase the card and at BV it was a 5 dollar bill. And the vendors do change from time to time. That is why I advised talking both denominations that way one is covered.

Default Usp Florence High

My husband was just transfered to high security federal prison in Florence Colorado. I spoke with him long enough to tell me where he was and he loved me. It's been two days and I haven't heard back from him. Is this normal? Are they on lockdown?

Hi Maccs wife. I am not sure about how to find information on the Federal Prisons. I think most people in this in the Colorado part of the forum are involved in the State system. There is a section for the Federal Prison system where you may get more information.

My boyfriend is at Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center and I guess he’s going to be there for another month or so before he’s moved. It took 2 months for me to get approved for phone calls, I missed hearing his voice and I’m sad I missed his call today.

Accomodation is a lot cheaper in December as well. Accomodation in June is almost double what I paid in March. worth it though definately worth it.

December accomodation is just a third of the price and I am guessing there will be snow so it will be pretty. I was blown away by Aspen and Breckenridge on my last visit. With nice to see those places again in the summer.
Hoping to get a few more visits in June I had some cancelled on me last time.

I'm back for round 2. He basically failed community corrections due to his ADD. So they're sending him back to prison.

I don't know yet. I hope he goes back to CMRC. They know me there. Right now he's being held in county jail.
