Default Transfer from county to prison: Are fees taken out of transferred funds?

My son will be transferred to Wasco soon from SLO county jail and wants me to send money now so it won’t be subject to the 55% fees. Will fees be taken out on the transferred money?
Thank you!

This is confusing - my original thread was title Funds Transfer Question. The thread was moved to this forum by a moderator, and now the title is different and makes no sense.

Yes, I did that, and apparently I misread your post....so I'll change the title to reflect what you're asking (per policy)

Your question isn 't unique to Wasco, its more of a general question, hence the move to the General forum

What are the fees for? If for child support, cost costs / court fees, restitution, etc it will also be taken out at the prison, though I don't know what % they'll take. Someone from Cali will have to answer that portin of your question. If you're asking if the prison will take the money out of transferred funds, I wouldn't think so, as fees have already been taken out.

Thank you, and yes, my question is whether they take restitution and fees (55%) out of transferred money from county. I know they take out the percentage once he's there and receives any kind of funds or pay. Does anyone have recent experience with this?

Ive heard conflicting answers to this.
It was also my hubs understanding that the fee's are not applied once transferred to state prison from county jail.
If I recall correctly they did NOT take out restitution for my hub, when he transferred. He didnt have much in his *account* and I didnt send anything while he was in reception. (he told me not to)

I do know at some point that I did send a small amount to see if they would take out the 55% (sorry I forget now just how much it was, likely like 10 dollars) but they did take out the 55%.

also as I understand it, the fees are for court costs, fines by the judge.
I am not so sure that for things like child support are taken out or not. I know my hub had been sued civilly and they did not take out anything to go toward that.
His money he got from his *job* did have the 55% taken out, too.
