Default Prayers Please! Active shooter in Christchurch, NZ

I dont know if this is the right place to put this so please move if so...

There are live gunmen in the New Zealand city of Christchurch attacking Mosques... We have evacuated the city, but I ask for prayers or just your thoughts as it is believed there are many fatalities and injuries...

Damn. This is not the Kiwi way!

Thank you for taking the time to read this

K.

It’s not the way of any person with a soul, morals or ethics!

And YES! I’ll do my best from here to send emotional help.

I HATE things like this,

You are %100 correct Safran, there is no place for this in any civilised society.

And thank you for your support, it means so much. We have no idea about numbers for dead or injured as its ongoing, but the number includes children. Even one is too many...

We are absolutely devastated

It's tragic, brutality with God as an excuse.

They think it may be a supremacist.

I'm stuck between angry and tears and fearfulness.

We strongly believe in the right to freedom of religion here and it really rips my nightie that some a*****e thinks it's his right to take lives while people are at worship.

Islamaphobia has no place here.... I realise I'm rambling now, we've evacuated the city but schools are in lockdown. We heard the shots, so we just wanna get my nephew and go home, but we can't! Bastard!

Thank you patchouli!

Your positivity energy is so welcomed, I'm grateful. I'm sorry I'm just hanging out here now, I've no where else to talk at this moment. We're scared, grieving who knows how many and at a loss that it's one of us that's done this. it sickens me.

My heart is broken. I’ve been in bed crying all day. One of the shooters has been documenting the attack in the days leading up to it on Twitter, and live-streamed it as it was happening. It is sick. It is suspected there are 40-50 fatalities. 4 people are in custody, 3 men 1 woman. This is the worst attack of violence New Zealand has ever had. Please keep our little country in your prayers, we are in a national crisis and our whole country is grieving. I am shocked and saddened beyond words

Me too Kiwi PP... I'm just sick to my stomach over it. I'm holding on to hope that the hurt/injured aren't as many as has been reported... one imam said up to up hundred dead. Our little country, KiwiPP! I'm sending you a cyber hug, though I know it won't help much. We have our nephew back and I am hugging the people I love tonight, with a heavy heart and a mind full of pain and disbelief for those who have been affected by this.

Yes I agree, all we can do is pray that the total loss of life is less than what it is currently believed to be. Cyber hug to you too hun xxx

Thanks you!

In the last couple of minutes our Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, has confirmed 40 dead and at least 20 with critical injuries. I'm crying. KiwiPP, I'm crying my eyes out, sick to my stomach... I am so proud to be a Kiwi. My heart aches...

A small positivity... The very capable Hon. Her Worship, Lianne Dalziel is the current Mayor of Christchurch... I have worked for Ms. Dalziel in one of her previous incarnations as Minister of Immigration. The woman has balls the size of watermelons and is a passionate Cantabrian. She will not allow this to weaken her beautiful city. Count on it.

My heart goes out to New Zealand. This is atrocious. Praying for all . This apparently was in retaliation for the murder of a Swedish child by terrorists in 2017 .

I'm a former registrar... we open for Saturdays in major centres for serious charges...

49! and some are babies. Honestly, I'm heartbroken. The city is silent tonight, it wasn't even like this after the quakes. The one thing Kiwis do well is come together in love in times of crisis. I'm sure we will be proud of our little country and its citizens in days to come. But theres fear here. Genuine fear mixed with disbelief. This is so wrong.

Supremacists or religious fanatics share many motivations for their "hatreds", at least in the United States. Example, the Ku Klux Klan sets Christian crosses on fire in front of other Christian's homes, as long as they were "non white" Christians.

So much hatred in the world its so sad. Sending positive thoughts and wishes of peace to all those affected by this atrocity.

Thank you all for your kindness. I can't tell you how I appreciate it... we awake this morning hoping against hope this is not real. sadly, it's all too real. We must now turn ourselves to the loving of the people affected.

Please, I ask just one thing: the next time you're at home, school or work, or just in public... please speak up when you hear/see any kind of discrimination, bullying, cruelty or anything like it. We can't change this, but we can make changes to ourselves. Have the courage of your convictions! do not allow other people to spread hate in your space. Reach out to someone and tell them it's ok to be themselves. Bless you all for your thoughts. I have appreciated you all so much over the last day. Thank you.

Some heartfelt thank you's

To the First responders, the Police, many of whom risked their lives in the course of their jobs yesterday. That's Love, not duty.

The Paramedics, who unarmed drove/ran headlong into the unknown to save lives and exceeded your own responsibilities.

The emergency services operators. Thank you for remaining calm and competent in the face of something that no amount of training can prepare you for. Respect.

The hospital staff, those who were on shift and those who flocked there. Thank you for exceeding yourselves in the fight to save people, a work you have discharged valiantly, operating every single operating theatre for over 24 hours now and saving all but one soul sent to you. Miracle workers.

Anyone that gave any kind of comfort, refuge, love and any kind of compassion in one of our darkest hours. That's humanity at its finest.

Today politics does not matter and our countries leaders recognise that and have come together in grief. The Attorney General has announced that we WILL be changing the gun laws as soon as practicable. I anticipate there will be little, if any opposition. I'm proud of that.

The Newsagencies are doing their best to report the news here without publishing traumatising videos or any associated documents. As are social media platforms and TV stations. Especially SKY, who have taken a foreign news broadcast off TV here until the reporting of the graphic details is lessened so as to not add trauma to trauma on those most closely affected. Thank you for your empathy here. I did not expect this display of morals from some of our journalistic quarters. I have more respect for mainstream news than I did.

A foreign national has appeared in court this morning charged at this stage with just one count of murder. I want to say to that foreign nation ( I dont want to name it, they don't deserve to be associated with this) this man is not yours either. He is an abomination, an aberration... not welcome in your land or ours. I know this for FACT. April the 25th will be here soon and the spirit is strong still in us all, as it has been now for more than 100 years.

No hateful little bastard will ever break the spirits of those who will not be broken.

And you may have hurt us you little prick, but this is New Zealand! We are Kiwis! You have only made our desire to embrace our diversity stronger. That's the direct opposite of your planned wedge in society. We captured you alive. Some say luck, I say it's just another sign of your cowardice. After all, who shoots people who are prostrate at prayer? Who shoots children? elderly? anybody?

I'm proud of my little country, as proud as I have ever been. We will recover from this. We will learn and improve from it. Never will we accept the type of vitriol espoused by this evil human being. As our Prime Minister said 'you may have chosen us, but we will NEVER, EVER choose you!'

Sorry for the novel, it's been therapeutic more than anything! Thanks for reading if you got this far !

K

I saw the headline the other day when I got up.

I just couldnt read about it, I avoided as much media as I could.
Im so sorry ShesMyAngel and Kwii that this has happened in your country.
It should never ever ever happen. Anywhere.
Sadly it happens all to often in my country.

**Today politics does not matter and our countries leaders recognise that and have come together in grief. The Attorney General has announced that we WILL be changing the gun laws as soon as practicable. I anticipate there will be little, if any opposition. I'm proud of that.***

And in my country the gun folks would riot if you wanted to control any part of them having guns. Every single measure that is tried to make things better is opposed.
It makes me sick.
I dont know if NZ has any penalty that would be appropriate but if they do, I hope they fry that effer.

In the UK our government implemented some of the toughest anti gun laws in the world after the atrocity at Dunblane. We now have almost non existant gun crime and no one here is up in arms about that loss of freedom. However each to their own.

However, we have still suffered terrorist attacks using bombs ,knives and vehicles. Nothing will stop those who are twisted in hated.

What comforted me after atrocities in our country was that for ever twisted hating idiot determined to hurt others there are literally thousands of good decent brave people.

After these disgusting attacks there are people willing to risk there lives to help others.People who over come there instinct to run and help others to escape or stay with the injured. Those people are from every age, every religion every culture.
Humanity does not discrimate and neither should we.

That is why the haters will never beat us , hurt us but never beat us
