Default Expired Passport

Hi Everyone,

My husband is going to be deported next year after he finishes his sentence. I spoke to an immigration attorney who told me that if his passport is valid when he is in ICE custody then they should deport him in 2-3 weeks of being with ICE. Now, if his passport is expired it can take months to deport him.

Do any of you know if I can renew his Honduran passport or have any of you been through this who can give me some insight? We don't want to wait months for them to deport him.

Thank you!!!

I found this on the internet. It doesn't mention if the passport holder is the only one who can renew it at a Honduran Embassy in the US, but check with them to get your answer.

When traveling out of the boundaries of this natural paradise, Honduras citizens must get a passport, which can be renewed at Honduran embassies around the world, including in the U.S.

Thank you! Do you happen to know if it has to be in person or can it be done online? I would like to get this done before he goes to ICE that way they can deport him quicker.

No I don't know, but if you phone an embassy located in the US, they can explain your options. Here's a link on how to contact the one in Miami.
