I love reading The Celestine Prophecy and have also read the sequels, The Tenth Insight and The Secret of Shambala, as well as The Celestine Vision and experential guides to each novel. If anyone would like to read any of those I would be up for reading them again. James Redfield is releasing the final sequel next month entitled The Twelfth Insight, and I am definitely up for reading that too.

ANY advices for good books are very welcome- I love to read!
I love, love, love ghoulish stories!
I'm a big Stephen King and Dean Koontz fan! I just didn't think that would go over real well across the board. But who knows?
They don't tend to have much meaning behind them to discuss in a group setting.
What I cannot get into at all are romance novels. No Danielle Steele for me thanks.

well if you like them .. i might know some more, some are kind of so realistic that you will check your windows , before going to bed.. but just like i said , that is just for someone that love ghoulish books..- smile im not reading romantic stuf feither.. But the book " a prisoners wife" is very good, it is written by someone that really went through it ( i think, but not sure, her guy is doing 25-life)! THAT IS A BOOK -WE ALL CAN RELATE TO!!! i have even send it to my hubby- and his comment was "wow, this lady knows , what she is talking about"

I read A Prisoners Wife by Ashe Bandele, and although it has a sorta Romeo and Juliet ending, I still got a lot out of that book. I think we have almost all read that one.
If you could PM me the recommendations for horror novels, I'd appreciate it. I'd love to read them on my own time if they're not Book Club material.

Ok... I agree with Barbie. I am hoping that all the books won't have to be prison-related.

On another note... Ooops! I bought The Other Wes Moore yesterday ~ and finished reading it about an hour ago! LOL It was good!
I will participate with the discussions, though, when the time comes!

No, I'm sure not everything. We've had many great suggestions that are not prison related whatsoever. Please jump in if you see us on a title that interests you. Just keep checking in.

Off topic, sorry, but...
I can't recall if you've been in this G2G thread.
There's a Northeast g2g at my house in May.

Of course not all of our selections will be prison related. Even The Other Wes Moore does not seem to be a typical prison related story. Please check out the other thread within this subforum about suggested titles. Add anything you wish or express opinions on titles already listed.

The Shack is a story about a man that meets God. That is the best way i can summarize it, and feel I am doing a disservice by making it sound so simple. But it is awesome and it helps us to see things in a different way. Whether we read it as one of our selections or not, I strongly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I'm SO HAPPY that PTO is starting a book club.

I was quietly excluded from my local community book club because the other "ladies" said I didn't fit in. So, I will join PTO's club and be happy that there is a place where I do.

I'll check my library for the 1st book tomorrow.

I plan to join in the book club too. I reserved the book at the library and it is there for me to pick up tomorrow.
Is there some plan in the works here ? Will Karyne let us know the plan here on when we should start reading, when the discussion will be starting ?? Love to read, read all the time but have never been in a reading/book club !
