Early Releases For Inmates Might Be Used To Combat Overcrowding
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Underlying California's attempts to meet a federal court order for reducing its prison population is an unsettling question: Will the public be in greater danger as a result?
The answer could determine how many inmates are ultimately released, who that would be and even whether federal judges decide to hold Gov. Jerry Brown in contempt.

Thanks so basically more info on ways brown can do something but hasn't there is a lot going on behind the scenes that brown doesn't want public to know I have a feeling he will start releasing on his terms.
Yes, I believe that there is alot going on behind the scenes. Remember that not only will they have to reach the court ordered number by December 31, but they need to be able to maintain that level going forward. So Im thinking that there are alot of people who will have their files reviewed and possibly have release dates re calculated in order to move people through the process faster. Lets keep the faith!!!

I know that they have been reviewing my husbands file. He already received a letter stating that at minimum they calculated his sentence four months too long but that it is still under review and that it could be even further reduced. He is sending me the paperwork that they sent him and I'll know more then. So they are certainly reviewing files.

I just want to provide another story of hope and validation to the many stories and news about files reviewed - my husband has another 18months or so on his sentence but has been called in twice and informed he will be called in again this weekend - by some authority over the counselors...each time being asked a list of questions about parole and support and told his name is on a list to go over these things. So I am certain something is taking place to get people out early. He is a second striker as well for any wondering - who was told would have to do 80%.

What prison is your husband in? And is he an 80%??? My husband is at VSP, and I'm praying that they start reviewing files....my husband is 80% with a violent crime, but he hasn't been in trouble at all so he qualifies for good time. It would be nice to have him home a lot sooner than later....as it stands right now his out date is in 2016
Sounds like they are going to pull the guys/gals with 2yrs and under, then 3 yrs, then 4yrs as they run out of those who qualify. So some of our guys and gals may not be called in right away. Also they aren't going to advertise it to the public. They are going to go to court come July and say this is what is happening and this is what we released so far. My hopes are high, mine has 4 yrs left.

He was transferred to Mule creek a few months ago. He is a second striker and 80% non violent crime.

My husband has heard this is happening to others too. He is at a fire camp and has 2 years left at 80%. He will get his anual review in a couple weeks. I am praying that it will have a closer date on it. I just hope that they don't skip over the fire camp people. They deserve to have their time adjusted too.

Hi there, my wife is in the same situation, please post the results when he is done!! THX
non violent inmates have already received their good time advantages and early release possibilities. now it's time for others staying out of trouble to go into effect.
