You can call ADC @ 6022545497 they can help you get his adc # when he is assigned one. You can write but you will probably have to wait til he writes you. It may take 2 weeks til they move him. Make sure you keep track of where he is going so you can set up the phone and put your visitation application in cuz you wont be able to talk to him until your application is approved.

Hello! He won't actually show up on the ADC search until he actually gets to whatever state prison they send him to. I'm not sure if it would work since he's in Alhambra, but you could try calling the MCSO inmate information hotline. It's an automated system - you'll need either his booking number or his first/last name and birth date. If he's still there, they should tell you that. The number is 602-876-0322.

I'm not real sure how processing through Alhambra goes as I met my other half after he was already in state prison. I'm sorry I couldn't be of much help, but you may want to try calling the hotline just to see if he comes up.

No need to call the DOC, (rarely does anyone ever answer and they never call back) just keep checking the DOC inmate search site, with his last name. Once he's in Alhambra, he will be assigned a DOC number. Once you have his DOC number, you can check on his status a few times a week. They update M, W, and F at 10:30 at night. My bf was in Alhambra on a Sunday and to the yard by Sat. It was updated the following Monday and that night I applied for visitation. I was approved 50+ days later and visited him the very first weekend I could.

Keep asking questions here, but remember, most of your answers can be found on the DOC site. You will find all regulations regarding classification, visitation, etc on the DOC site. A year of this crap, I still find answers to questions, even those I didn't know I should ask!!

Welcome to PTO, there are some wonderfully strong women (and men) who have all been in your shoes, dealing with the same emotions that you are right now!!

*hugs*

You can write to him and if he has money on his books he can write to you. I got a letter from my guy and I wrote him back. He has now been in there over a week so I'm just now waiting for him to be moved. If he moves when you send the letter they will forward it to the next place he goes.

Just so you know...sometimes the forwarded letters can take a couple weeks to arrive. My best advice that anyone told me...and I still do it today!! NUMBER your letters. Get a stack of envelopes and number 1-50, and send him letters in order. This way he knows something is missing or has been skipped!!

As a mom of a young man who has been in DOC for 9 months, I can relate to how your bf's mom & you are feeling. Alhambra is kind of in limbo, so you really can't find anything out there. He will get through the processing just fine, and be on his way to a yard. Not knowing is the hardest part. As all of your other friends here have said, it will take a little time even after he gets moved for it to show up on the DOC website. And his mom may cry when she sees his mug shot. I did because it was kind of a reality check. Plus my son looked so hardened with his head shaved and no smile. Once he got settled in and his hair grew, we saw him at the first visit and felt so relieved. Visiting helps to ease the worry and know that he is okay. We will be praying for a safe landing for him, and let us know where he ends up.

funny you mentioned the mug shot picture. Alhambra is a hard one, they go out on the Alhambra train in the middle of the night, by the time they get to Alhambra, they could be up 20-36 hours, get classified, etc. I asked my Paulie to give me a smile on his DOC mugshot, because it was something that I had to look at for the next 2.5 years. He DID!! I still smile when I see him shot!!

Its crazy my boyfriends' mom did cry when she saw the mugshot he looked so sad & just so diffrent from what he used to look like, she took it way to hard i felt really bad. @paulie'sgirl i wish i could of told him to smile for the mugshot just like u did <3
But the good news is i got a letter from him from alhambra yesterday i wasnt really expecting it so soon, & today i found out he got transferred to Tucson so im glad this whole alhambra process went by fast.

Glad to hear he is on his way to the next step in this journey. It is a different world in there and a mom's heart is very tender for her son. Get the visitation forms filled out ASAP so you can get approved. For now, the letters will get you by. Ask as many questions as you want to on these blogs. We all are still learning from each other, no matter how long our loved one has been in DOC. God Bless you and stay strong. Hugs to you both.

My son wrote me a letter from Alhambra but didnt get to call. I got a call from a mom of someone on the yard he hit to let me know where he landed... I would say just be sure to watch the sight for his number so you can have money on his books as soon as he hits a yard. I did the western union and it was on within hours.... I feel Alhambra was the worst only due to the waiting and the unknown where he was going to end up....just breath.
